Ahh, yes.
Coming home after a long day of visiting the tailor, class, and eating, followed by bubble tea and people watching while being gawked at, there's nothing more refreshing sounding than a nice cold one.
It is Friday night afterall.
I have 2 days of work (yep, Sat and Sun are being treated like Mon and Tues so students don't fall behind) before I leave for a week's vacation. A week free of phones, email, traffic... Ahhhh...

(Don't worry, you will survive without me to entertain you, my sole reader.)

So I grab a Carlsberg out of the fridge, savoring its chilled green can in my hand, my anticipation building.

I pull the tab, savoring that sweet release of carbonation sound.

My beer doesn't open.

I swear. I panic.
No, no, no, no NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, not my beer. My lovely, not quite frosty beer!

What do I do? Call the police? The National Guard? My barracks full of neighbors next door? Is there a beer-drinkers' club here I can contact for support and assistance?

Then I look more closely. The can is a bit different... UEFA 2008, soccer ball..... okay, so it's a sporty version.
Then I look even more closely.
I tilt my head.
What is this? A relic? An antique? An escaped artifact from the Smithsonian?

It's a pull-tab can.
I've heard of these. From my dad. And in books.

I'll send the can in to the museum for the Archie Bunker display after I finish.

Ahhhhhh

Now to find a box.

I am enjoying your blog!
Hi Kristin: I am a friend of your Dad's from Westfield High School. He sent me the link to your travel blog and I just wanted to let you know that you have more than a sole reader - assuming he is one, I am another. I thoroughly enjoy the whole thing, especially the trip to the tailor - great directions! Try a hammer and screwdriver for that beer. All you need is one hole big enough to get a mouthful! deb
