For everyone I haven't been in contact with recently, I have just finished my 3-year contract in Japan and have embarked on my last adventure before returning to Canada. My friend Larry (who flew over from Toronto) and I are on a 6-week, 7-country trip through Asia (from August 12th to September 20th). Our itinerary is as follows:

Osaka & Kyoto, Japan --> Beijing (Olympics!!) & Xian, China --> Hong Kong --> Macau --> Vietnam --> Cambodia --> Thailand --> CANADA!!!

We are traveling by train, plane, boat, moped and rickshaw ... really anything that gets us from point A to point B; and we are feasting on local delicacies where ever we go (of course passing on the crazies such as dog, horse, and anything that is best served rotten!)

I have posted some random pics from our Japanese adventures, but since I have already posted numerous blogs about Osaka and Kyoto, I am not going to add text.

So.... WELCOME TO OUR JOURNEY!!

I think cycling around Kyoto is one of my favorite things to do in Japan.

This message board is called an "ema" and people write their prayers on them in Shinto shrines.

A "maiko-san" is a "geisha-in-training." They wear the white face make-up until they become "geisha."
