Taiwan Itinerary: Winter 2005

My 8D 7N Itinerary for those who may be keen.

Just a recap of the itinerary which I had posted in tripadvisor forum. More details will be available soon.


Day 1 (Goodground Hotel, Ximenting, NT999)

Hang around Ximenting for the first nite. Very happening place since it was a Saturday. The Taiwanese really knows how to doll themselves up.


Day 2 (Goodground Hotel, Ximenting, NT999)

Martyr's Shrine >> Hike up Grand Hotel >> Zhongxiao East Mall + Sogo >> Wufenpu >> Raohe nite mkt >> Topview Taipei >> Ximenting

Long day out but was interesting to watch the Military Police tossing their weapons with ease. AS a former Sg MP doing similar drills was very impressed by the standards. KUdos....

The XL chicken in Raohe Nite mkt tastes great 😊


Day 3 (Gau Shan Qing Hotel, Alisan, NT1600)

Train to Chiayi >> Bus to Alisan

WE were quite tired after the bus ride. Had an early nite to catch the sunrise at Tatajia.


Day 4 (Future Star Hotel, Ximenting, NT1080)

Sunrise at Tatajia >> Alisan Forest Recreation Area hiking >> Alisan Railway to Chiayi >> Train to Taipei >> Yonghe Soya Bean milk at Dingxi Station

We checked into this Future Star Hotel at Ximenting for NT1080. The next day they charged us NT880. Not bad aferall.


Day 5 (Future Star Hotel, NT880)

Xiaonanmen >> Wulai Hotsprings >> Bitan >> Miramar Ferris Wheel >> Shilin Nite Mkt

I had more time to uncover Shilin Nite mkt for this trip. Bought some cola collectibles from one of the shops near to the main road.


Day 6 (Goodground Hotel)

Taipei 101 >> Discovery Centre of Taipei >> Tianmu >> Danshui

We visited Taipei City hall in the morning than rush back to taipei city to change our hotel before proceeding north to Tianmu n Danshui


Day 7: Goodground Hotel

Taipei >> Ruifang >> Jiufen >> Jinguashi >> Keelung >> Taipei Metromall

Sorry, but i felt that Jiufen was a major disappointment that has really lost it's character. 😞


Day 8: Home Sweet Home......😊

Ximending >> Beimen >> Shin Kong San Yue >> Ximending


If anybody need any directions on how to go to the above places, feel free to post, will try my best to answer.


P.S. If I ever had a chance to visit Taiwan again, I will go by Hualien >> Taitung >> Kaoshiung >> Taipei route . There is simply too many places waiting to be explored in this island

Hi, I just came back from Taiwan (by tour) and it was lovely to read your travelblog about Taiwan. Absoutely agree with many pointers you made. I've visited Hualien and I love it. Highly recommended places to visit- ChihBen's Hotspring and Taroko Gorge. And if i have the chance to visit Taiwan again, I'll go by free and easy. We had too little time in Taipei - ShiLin Night Market which was a pity.
