The American Falls are between Prospect Point and Luna Island.
After spending a few days in cosmopolitain Toronto, we headed off towards "Niagara Falls".

Over the internet, we'd booked to stay at the "Niagara Falls Motel". (Just a mile from the falls).
Accomodation is really expensive in this area and this was cheaper than most.

"We weren't suprised, to find that it was a grotty little place."

However, after 12 months of travelling and having stayed in lots of places that weren't up to scratch.
We decided to give it a go, at least the sheets and bathroom were clean.
"So why not, we've put up with worse"!!!

(Turned out to be an ideal place to base ourselves at a fraction of the cost.)

The Niagara Falls was awesome to see, especially when they are lit up at night.
"Well worth a visit".

One of our highlights, was the boat tour on the "Maid of the Mist".
"This was so exhilarating, a definate must do - So just do it!!!".

Another was the concert and spectacular fireworks over the Falls.
(This normally takes place on friday and sunday nights)

The city of Niagara was really touristy.
"And why were we not suprised"?
(Seems

wearing only a life jacket was the first person to survive the Horsehoe Falls, after being thrown into the water after a boating mishap in July 1960. He was rescued by the "Maid of the Mist" boat
to be that way in most cities, that are close to places of interests!!)

Now for some info...

The Falls are 188 feet high, with the deepest section of the Niagara River just at their base-going down 170 feet. The rim of Horseshoe Falls measures 2200 feet across. (The same height of Yosemite's famous Cathedral Spires).

At least a dozen people every year go to the Falls in order to commit suicide, they tend to jump just above the crest of the Horseshoe Falls. Ninety percent of the people who make the jump survive the initial fall, only to die of drowning at the base.

A number of stuntmen in barrel type contraptions have successfully challenged the Falls, but an equal number of these daredevils have also died while attempting to conquer them.

And "NO!" "We didn't attempt it".

Not that day anyway......

Having had a great time in Niagara, we headed off to our next stop "Hamilton".

We had much better accomodation, well comfortable, with plenty of space to spread out our stuff.
(It really was sheer luxury, to have a bit of space for a change).

Having had

The smaller fall to the right is the Bridal Veil falls. As seen from the canadian side....
a few days to sort ourselves out, we prepared to pack for our journey home.

"How sad are we?"

"We've come a long way, done so much, learned a lot and met loads of lovely people".
"We've had the most amazing time, but there is so much more to see and do".

"And yes!"
"We miss our family and we are travelling back business class for the first time.

So I guess, we have to go home for now".

(Lucky us, got an upgrade for an extra $25 each, couldn't turn that down. LOL.)

So till the next time, happy travels to all xxxxx
