We arrived in Nungwi on Saturday and almost immediately went to the dive shop to sign up for a 2 dive package. We then played beach soccer with the locals. That night, we splurged at an amazing seafood restaurant on the beach. I had seafood curry and it was amazing; sort of what I expected from the fish market in Stone Town. Then we had a wild night on the beach. Let's just say that what happens in Zanzibar definitely wouldn't fly at the Jersey shore.

We woke up early the next day and went to the dive center. There were 5 of us diving and a couple others snorkeling. Our boat was quite interesting. The keel was made out of a tree trunk. It was a really nice 90 minute ride to Mnemba Atoll, a small island off the east coast of Zanzibar. The water was really warm and very clear. The visibility was 30 meters, which is unbelievable. We saw coral, tons of starfish, trumpet fish, and plenty of others. A couple people saw turtles and even an octopus. I've been telling everyone I'm headed to Egypt next and they have nothing but praise for the Red Sea. It's supposedly one of the top places in the world to dive.

Today we're heading back to Dar es Salaam for a night, then onto Arusha at the base of Kilimanjaro. Before I start my Kili trek, we're spending 2 nights in the Serengeti. It's possible I won't be able to update for another two weeks or so. It's nice to hear from people back home. Keep the messages coming.

Hi Justin,
It's fun to think we were at the same time in Zanzibar...it's a small world. Peter
