LA!
First of all, sorry. I've left my card reader in my main bag which is in a locker; so no photos just yet, but there are a lot of them anyway so i'll load them when i find somewhere with free/cheap internet. Annie has put some on to facebook so we'll see if we can post a link, otherwise you'll just have to wait.
The hostels ok, probably nicer than we expected but its in a rubbish area, surrounded by furniture shops...
Our first day out in the big bad world went...well we think we walked about 15 miles. We got directions to the cinema, hoping to see the new james bond film (which we later found out isnt released here until nov 14). We think we must have walked staight past the street that it was on, but when we asked people along the way if we where going the righ way, they just said 'yeh, keep going.' After walking in one direction for about 1.5 hours we asked someone else who gave us a funny look and told us it was way back the way we came. about an hours walk. fair to say we weren't impressed. It
The city of LA
The most pollued city in America The city of LA
The most pollued city in Americawas hot, around the 90 degrees farenhiet, and we just decided to walk back to the hostel. so we had a long 3hour round trip walk for nothing, but that counts only for about 8 miles of that day. In the morning we went for a wander to see what was around and got lost. Which is fine, that was the idea, but it was another 3 hours walking around. We made a friend, kinda. there are people all over the place with 'vote no to prop 8' banners. As we passed he asked if we would be voting. obviously not but we asked what it was about. It's basically religous groups wanting to abolish the rights of gay couples to a civil ceremony. He was probably the only, american we spent time talking to.
Everything is big here, though we did see a normal size smart car, the minis are giant minis. Everythings much bigger compared to florida, either that or i just dont remember florida that well.
We went to Universal studios on Monday. It wa' good! The simpsons ride is new and really good, but Jarasic
park and the mummy are still the best. Disappointments
Hollywood sign
- no men in black or back to the future rides. I'll leave Annie to write about the rest of universals anyway, seeing as it was her first time there.
Yesturday we went on a tour of beverly hills, the stars houses and the hollywood sign; you know, the touristy things. It was ok, but it was roasting. Sat in an open top bus for two hours wasnt fun. but we did get the obligatory photos of the hollywood sign.
We've managed to survive on just the cash that we brought with us, not really wanting to get more money out with the crap exchange rate. so we just havent eaten. lol. breakfast is free and its been so hot we've not been that hungry. hmmm, probably shouldnt have said that...we have eaten, don't worry.
Anyway, today is a boring day of waiting for 5pm to come round so we can go to the airport and wait some more.
Annie here! Yo yo yo.
OK I want to point something out. The Minis aren't bigger, it was just a Clubman. We sell those in
England. So. (roseanna - yeh but you dont see any mini
Annie in hollywood
minis do you?!?)
I'm having a good time anyway! Although it is very hot. All my photos are on Facebook if you want to find them...
I'm supposed to talk about Universals! OK. I liked it :D
Terminator ride was a bit slow to start off with...but it was really cool! Bit of a sidestory from T2, which made absolutely no sense, but that's OK because we got to see Edward Furlong again before he became a druggie.
I think the Studio Tour was a bit disappointing, mainly because we didn't see much of the sets and stuff, but it was OK...
I think Roseanna's said pretty much everything there is to say, so...bye!
