Lunch in Paris!
First food there! This WONDERFUL bagguette with freash gruyere cheese, butter, and ham. Eating on the steps of the Paris Opera House I'm in Paris!
We left out of London at 6 am this morning, had the train ride on the chunnel and everything, and ended up in Paris at around Noon. Which, was actually 11 am London time, but Frace is 1 hour ahead, so for those of you keeping score at home, that's 7 hours ahead of CST. AKA its 4:30 pm CST now, and its 11:29 pm in Paris, and 10:29 pm in London. My timezones are all over, jet lag is going to be bad...
Anyway, we got here at noon ish, and got on this 3 hour tour....a 3 hour tour...:D. Anyway, we went all over and saw, via bus, the big sights of paris, ended up at a good view point of the Eiffel Tower (see pictures) then headed to the hotel. Once we got our room keys, we unloaded and hit the town!
Clara, James and I took the metro from our hotel to Notre Dame. We went through, took a ton of pictures and video (see attached) and had a good time, and were VERY thankful we could actually take pictures, as most churches we've been in have yet to allow it.
The Eiffel Tower!
From a neat view point up on a hill After Notre Dame we headed to the Lourve, had some dinner in the cafe there, then started our tour. It took 3-4 hours of walking around, being lost, and browsing to go through it, and I don't honestly think we saw all of it. Heck, I'm pretty sure we'd be lucky if we saw 1/3 of it all. It is the largest museum in the world, after all, and did used to be a palce. It was quite large, and to our surprise....we could take photos! Though no flash, which made some blurry, but man, I'll take what I can get.
See the pictures enclosed of me with the Venus De Milo, the Mona Lisa, and other random things. It was an amazing experience. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel for some crepes on the street by our hotel and then showers. Here I am now, going to BED! Its 11:30 their time and we're getting up at 7:30, having breakfast at 8, and getting on the metro by 8:30. We're going to the Palace of Versallies tomorrow! I'm very exctied. It should be quite the adventure.
Cheers and Love,
-Ry
