We left Evening Star early after saying goodbye to Tony and Trish, some people Steve meet on the Rappville range in June and they had made their way to Charleville at the same time so we spent a day getting to know them.We made our way to Tambo to get ourselves a Tambo Teddy. Tambo is famous for these cute little teddies . The locals decided to start up a business to create some employment in the town (pop 400) and four ladies came up with the idea of making Teddies. As you can imagine they got laughed at a lot but they bit the bullet and today they have sold over 30000 teddies to people from all over the world. Each teddy is numbered and the larger teddies are individually named after local stations in the area. When you buy a Tambo Teddy your name and home town is recorded in the register as its owner. Then it was on to Blackall for the night, but before we arrived we had a little mishap with a tyre. It infact involved a road train two jacks and an angle grinder. About 20 km east of Blackall we were passed by yet another 60mtr road train and the watergate hotels hand brake came on which told us something was not right as she tried to pull up the nissan. We pulled up and discovered we had a slightly flat tyre LOL. So after using both jacks to lift the watergate and the generator to operate the angle grinder to cut the tyre from the around the axle we changed the crappy Indonesian tyre (which will be replaced by a Bridgestone) and made our way into Blackall for the night, camping in the park near the Barcoo River for $5 a night. Fisrt thing we did when we arrived was go to the Artesian Spa to relax.

Finally worked out how this Blog thing works, it looks like fun. Good to see "Chatham Gumnut" now has two more Tambo cousins. Sorry to hear about your experience with cheap tyres. Who said you don't need an angle grinder on the road! We leave Charleville tomorrow for Quilpie, Birdsville and who knows where!!!. This is plan "A". Happy travelling
