Happy Birthday to the Army. She is 233 today. Since today is Groundhog Day we didn’t know that it was the Army birthday today until we saw the email from the Sergeant Major of the Army. Oh, Happy Birthday we muttered. The excitement came at chow time. When we got to the DFAC (dining facility) there were lots of patriotic decorations. The tables were covered in red, white, and blue table cloths. The ceiling was covered in streamers and the walls had signs with American Flags on them. The decorations were just the beginning - for dinner: Steaks, lobster tail, shrimp, and even Coors beer (NA of course). What a treat. I love a good steak, this was not good but steak in the middle of the desert is all right in my book. I think that the cooks, who are third country nationals, do not know how to cook beef. I suspect they boil it, but that cannot be confirmed. They also had a huge cake - I suspect two full sheets with the Army Crest spread across the front. I think that it disgusted the Marines. We will see what the DFAC comes up with for their birthday party.

Still looks like the same old mystery meat to me. Thanks so much for the Father's Day gift. I'll write more later. Hope the box arrived. Be safe. Love, Dad
