Hump day. I used to go by the days of the week. Wednesday was two days until Friday, which meant time home with my girls. I usually don’t know what day it is. Our wives laugh at us because we don’t know what day it is. I have heard many soldiers say, “My wife/girlfriend thought I was giving her a hard time on the phone because I said that I didn’t know it was Wednesday.” We really do not know what day it is - everyday is like the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. Every day I wake up at 0500 and walk to the shower trailer, Major Mitchell is always there brushing his teeth. I hang my towel up and turn on shower number two. When I return to my CHU Mark’s alarm goes off, I get dressed and head to work. I pass the same people every morning and exchange the same pleasantries, etc. It is really funny. We track dates like this - for example 112236CJUN2008 is today. June 11th at 10:36 PM Current time (as opposed to Zulu time). We use Zulu for flights. Zulu is Charlie (or current) time minus three hours. The make matters even worse we sometimes use Julian Date which assigns a number to each day of the month. All of the repetitiveness is the reason I really likes the concert last night.

So generally you rarely know whether you are coming or going! Sounds like a typical ETD day except your is on steroids! Thanks so much for these wonderful logs of your adventure. Although, in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather be talking to you here, than reading about you.
