Greetings from Falkenberg. We arrived here on Saturday evening and we all spent Saturday evening and Sunday with our host families. I think each of us had an interesting time. Beth and Shana traveled by ferry to Denmark for part of the day. Carol, Denis, and I each had separate tours of the city, including a drive up the coast to Varberg where we visited an old fortress- very interesting. Jamie was taken more north to Gothenberg, and even went to an amusement park.

Today we had a tour of a primary health care setting. A very progressive system that is not dissimilar to the family health networks starting in Ontario, but much more inclusive. Swedish healthcare truly is amazing, and for everyone. After a Rotary lunch with a presentation, we were taken to a Shipyard. One of 3 in Sweden that repairs ocean-going ships. We got another up-close-and -personal tour. It is amazing, and a bit terrifying how close they let you get to things around here. The giant machines swinging around our heads keep us very alert.

We are now preparing for a formal dinner tonight. The Swedes are being very kind to us all, and even ensuring that Jamie has options other than fish to eat. Although I do think she is starting to like most of it. Accept for eels, at least when they are alive.

I knew a girl named Eva....
From Falkenberg she was, and she dated me twice and never ONCE gave me even a kiss... I've had something against that place ever since. Actually, Eva went to school with me at Gustavus, played soccer, and really was sweet - so sweet, I don't think she ever knew it was a date. ...maybe they weren't - age obscures all but wishful thinking, I suppose. So, if you happen to see a 44-ish woman by the name of Eva who still appears fit from years of 'fotboll', give her greetings from me, and if you are able - a big kiss too!
