Nice views.
It doesn’t seem to get as cold at night in Arizona. It was 61 degrees this morning. We knew we had to hike in Sedona so we did the Airport Mesa loop. It’s 3.5 mile, fairly level trail with great views. We got to the trailhead early (7:30 am) because we knew the parking lot would get crowded. It was beautiful day - - sunny with clouds and a cool breeze, not too hot. As promised (in the guidebook), the views of the red rock formations that the area is known for were outstanding. I was excited about the number of wildflowers on the trail (the yellow cactuses were just about to bloom, probably will next week) and Frank enjoyed bird watching. We took our time and it was a very enjoyable walk.
After lunch we drove the Red Rock Loop, a scenic drive. The housing development in the area is amazing. Big expensive houses are going up all over. You can’t take a photo of the rock formations without getting houses in the shot. I wonder where the water to support the growth comes from. I saw a sign advertising 2 lots for sale for $760,000! Pricey area (I think all of Sedona is).
Thunderstorms and rain arrived in the afternoon, but Frank was still able to do some rock collecting and rock shopping. After a trip to the grocery store it was back to the campsite at Dead Horse Ranch State Park and a dinner of Stouffer’s!

Homesick
I just caught up with your blog and love your beautiful photos. It reminds me so much of the area where I grew up in Colorado. I was in Old Town Albuquerque 14 yrs. ago this week and it looks just the same.
