Cruising with Mel and Brad . . .

The last 8 days have been incredible. My youngest sister, Melanie, and her boyfriend, Brad, have been cruising with me. And it has been so much fun! We’ve had great adventures in the ports, but also so much fun on the ship.

Having family onboard, I’ve been spoiled in that I’ve been able to eat guest food all week! We had a table for four in the guest dining room. So I was able to eat with them every evening and then different friends of mine joined us. Jody, Liam and Jess all joined us on different evenings. For lunch, I usually met Mel and Brad and we’d eat from the many buffet options (something I can do regularly, but still so much more exciting when I have them there for company).

One evening, we went to “Harry’s Supper Club”, the six-star dining room on the ship. Supper Club is the most extravagant, elegant and extreme dining experience. The food is unbelievable. I love supper club! All week I was telling them how good it was going to be. And it was! Jody also joined us that night and he’d never been before (the Destiny doesn’t have a Supper

Club). It was exciting to be there with three people who were overwhelmed by their first time supper club experience. The shrimp, the escargot, the lobster, the chocolate (my selections) . . . soooooo good . . .

Mel and Brad did everything they could to get the most out of the guest experience on the ship: hitting the water slide, lounging by the pool, taking in the shows, playing Bingo, gambling in the casino, trying out all the fancy bar drinks.

Then, on the other end of that, I did my best to give them the guest-crew experience. We had nights out in the crew bar and a big night out at the crew party. They were big hits with all of my friends. The nights they stayed in and went to bed early, everyone would ask where they were. I loved having Mel and Brad hang out with my friends from the ship; it was such a lovely blend of my ship world and a dose of home.

It has been a busy busy week. Tiring. I’m completely drained. But I’d do it all over again. I’ve loved having Mel and Brad here and having
