Face of Gujarat.Face of Gujarat.Face of Gujarat.

Taking a break in the heat of the day.
We've left Rajastan now and we've decided to head south again. The trouble with travelling in India is that you can never do anything on the spur of the moment. You have to plan everything days in advance. Not much fun if you want to change plans on a whim.

Going from Udaipur we wanted to go to a resort area called Diu in the south of Gujarat. Well that would have taken over 24 hours by train so we thought let's go somewhere else. The trains all had waiting lists and the flights were too expensive so we took the bus.

We thought that a sleeper bus would be a good idea. The problem was that it didn't have a toilet and there was only one stop, 3 1/2 hours into the trip. Add that to the fact that we arrived in Ahemabad at 5 am and you get one horrible night. Oh well, live and learn.

Gujarat is quite nice, a notch down from the hectic big cities and there are fewer touts, beggers and cheats. a nice change from Rajastan.

We took a day bus over to Baroda. See, live and learn. Baroda is

I must say, the street food was outstanding all over India. Just make sure that it's fresh.

Tomorrow we fly to Mumbai to meet our friend A.K. from the GAP tour.

Safety reminder
So finally I am getting rivals when it comes to traveling! Your pictures are very nice; I should buy a camera one of these days! Now that you are 6 weeks into traveling weird and wonderful places is the time when travelers get comfortable and lower their guard? So a little reminder for a safe journey! Keep the travelers checks, the passports and the money in an extra safe place. It’s a wonderful world out there but a bit of extra caution never hurts. Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.

Sorry
I didn't intend to misrepresent your city. I think that we have a different meanings of the word "mall". In North America it means, shopping centre. Again, I appologise for any confusion.
