On my drive back to Atlanta and my week of meetings, I stopped at LookOut Mountain home to Ruby Falls and Rock City (located in Chattanooga, TN_. You can't miss it because there are signs about every other mile for about a 200 miles in every direction telling you that you must stop! They did their work and I decided to stop and take a look.

Ruby Falls was quite the surprise...its motto is "200 million years in the making". Ruby Falls is an indoor 145 foot waterfall located about 1120 feet below the top of LookOut Mountain. Pretty dramatic and with plenty of force. The water comes from the roof inside a cave. They're not entirely sure how the water gets to the Falls but rain or shine the Falls are working although there is a much stronger force when it's raining on the outside. Unfortunately, you can only view the Falls via tour and are only allowed to stay for the length of time of your tour. So, photo opportunities are pretty limited. They have a light show they do which will explain the colors in my photos. The water makes it way through the cave system and

has led to several of the typical cave formations you see in most caves. If interested in viewing, the tour through the cave to the Falls is fairly easy without a lot of stairs. The Falls are worth the trip and the cave tour isn't bad because there are several formations along the way.

Next stop was Rock City. This place would be a great spot for kids because there are lots of interesting things to climb and fit through and it's not that intense of a climb. At the top, you get a view of seven states on a clear day; however, when I was there is had been raining on and off so not very clear. There is also the very pretty 140 foot High Falls located just off the Lover's Leap. You can only get a good view of the Falls via the Observation Point so make sure you don't miss that somewhat hidden trail. There are also spots to eat at the bottom and top of LookOut Mountain.

The weather was a very comfortable temp again today so very comfortable for enjoying the sites. Some sprinkles here and there but overall a good day and good view.
