Manly Pool - Swimming Carnival

The Church Swimming Carnival was postponed. This is why we were swimming in the FREEZING... March weather. If you aren't from Australia - it would be counted as a nice warm day - possibly even hot, but for us locals if the temperature is under 25 degrees celcius well we are just plain cold.

It probably didn't help that the pool was situated at Manly - a seaside suburb and the pool is located ON the water, almost in it. And that the swimming carnival is held at night, so no sun to warm us up after the races. Well I can't say "us" as I successful weaseled out of swimming in any races. The kids swam and turned purple, but not me... No I was so hopeless that a lady pregnant with twins swam in the relay instead of me - how slack am I?

We had a great time and I packed blankets for the kids to wrap up in after swimming and winter tracksuits to wear. So we were all snug after the swimming. There was also really yummy food there - fundraising - I had the best chocolate cupcake for 50 cents and there were huge yummy choc chip cookies 3 for a $1 and a sausage sizzle - of course you all must know that I don't go for the swimming - I go for the food!!

Even though I didn't swim we tried very hard to cheer on the poor souls who were. Someone made lovely banners for our team Brisbane - our team colours are even the Australia colours - so we cheered and yelled and cheered and yelled and our team came third - we had the best cheer team and we all stuck together - so GO us!!

The children were worried about missing earth hour - where as many people/business as can do it have off their lights and electricity. I said well all these people at the pool arent home - so all their lights are off anyway - but they said will we turn off the lights at the pool? Well we got home in time to do our bit for earth hour and they went to sleep in the candle light.
