On a Mexican BusOn a Mexican BusOn a Mexican Bus

Says it all...
Hello hello, this is guest author Tracey, due to the fact Nick is currently having to stay close to a toilet...the first casualty of a dodgy tummy! I cant decide whether is it due to a bug he picked up or that fact they drizzle, sprinkle and coat most food in a chilli based product...

Since the last update, we recovered in Mexico City for a day or two...did the typical tourist thing and spent the day on a hop on hop off bus...very nice indeed and we managed to leave the city all in tact. We then flew down to San Cristobal a mountain town and stayed for a couple days before we decided to get a bus to a place called Palenque...which Nick described to me a beautiful jungle village we could stay in for a few days and get to see some lovely ruins...well...

The bus journey was the worst of my life, i used to get travel sick going 10 miles in the back of car, so the winding roads through the mountains, with speed bumps every 100 yards, and our position on the bus...two rows in front of the toilet (which smelt worse than

the gents at the Monks) made for nearly 6 hours of torture...my only lifeline was the "handy olbas oil pocket tissues" i bought along...which i inhaled constantly throughout...i had tried putting two ripped off pieces up my nose...but got too many strange looks so made do with coverage instead and deep breathing. They should be grateful i wasnt sick as the carrier bag we had, on checking had holes in the bottom!

After the bus journey, we headed to the jungle village...you cant pre-book, so we got the early morning bus to ensure we could get a lodge to stay in...however the whole darn place was booked up and no one leaving, which if i was being honest came as a slight relief as the "beautiful jungle village" was infact a sweat pit that smelt worse than the bus toilet and was full of even smellier crusty travellers...

Following some rapid re-thinking and another bus journey, which i am happy to say did not involve hairpin bends and speed bumps, we are now in a place called Villahermosa, and heading towards Chetchumal, which sits just at the top of Belize...which is our next port of call...and we can

also pre-book accommodation so no panick attacks required.

Well that should do for now, when Nick can safely leave the toilet, i know he wants to give you his own update...he has notes!

Hope you are all having a lovely easter break.

Much love
Tracey xxx
