Hi Guys,

As you can see from the pic's we have headed East and 2185 meters above sea level to Darjeeling. We flew from Mumbai to Kolkata (Calcutta) and took the overnight train to New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Apart from the fluffing and snoring (other passengers!) it was a fairly pleasant 14 hour train journey. From NJP it was a further 3 hour jeep ride up one of the steepest mountains we have ever encountered. Not for the faint hearted however we were reassured by the cheery signs on the way up. Here are just a few:-

"Hurry burry spoils the curry"
"Time is money but life is precious"
"Donate blood in the blood bank not on this road"
"Enjoy the ride don't commit suicide"

Darjeeling is made up of mostly Tibetan's and Nepalise. Yesterday we witnessed a Tibetan protest (peaceful). You have probably seen on the news that Tibet is currently seeking freedom from Chinese rule. They are passionate people it was awesome to see.

Weather up here is a lot cooler and T is struggling but it's ok we have found a cake shop!

Speak soon thanks for all your messages keep them coming. X

PS - To the curious lot who have spotted the ring.......ha ha gotcha! X
