Ok so I just had an amazing idea and printed off a map of Australia and ive drawn a route of where we drove from Brisbane to Alice Springs!! Wooo!! As you can see there are 4 coloured dots, just to put the journey you have just read about into perspective!
THE GREEN DOT is “Dalby” where we spent our first night! (I actually called it “Balby” on my blog so 10 points whoever spotted the deliberate mistake!!)
THE YELLOW DOT is “Longreach” which was probably the biggest town along the way, where we stopped and used the internet and tried to fix the car for the thousandth time!!!
THE PINK DOT is “Mount Isa” where there are slight hills!! This is where we nearly got arrested for using the swimming pool!!!
THE RED DOT is the UFO capital of Australia, where we saw our very extraordinary shining light and had fun posing with the aliens at the petrol station!!
So I hope that makes the journey a bit clearer!! And you can see I’m not exaggerating by how far we travelled!!
The second part of this blog is a bit of a sob story…..
Poor poor Gwarky...
It's 'touch and go' every day but he's in the best care possible and has a strong chance pulling through.as you know, we escaped many dangerous situations by the skin of our teeth and managed to complete the journey unharmed. There was however one accident I feel I should tell you about. And that’s Gwarky.
What happened to him is heart rendering, I’m welling up just thinking about it!
The story goes like this…. Five young backpackers and one kangaroo called Gwarky were traveling through the outback on a nice sunny morning when they noticed that every time they saw a kangaroo out the window, bouncing along all happy and merry, Gwarky got really excited. Although the backpackers didnt like to admit it them ourselves, it dawned on them that he may not actually like being cooped up in a car with three stinky boys, and that maybe he wanted to go and join the other kangaroos.
After a long debate and tearful goodbyes, they let him out of the car. The tension could have been cut with a knife as they watched him slowly approach the group.
What happened next was simply atrocious.
Just because Gwarky looked slightly different with his cute little hat and boxing gloves, the other mean kangaroos attacked him…
Well, you can see the damage for yourself…………..

o my god ella what have you done with gawky! tony is devastated!!! ha ha! why dont you take him to the baby kangaroo rescue centre in alice maybe they could help him?! send him my love!! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
