Edit Blog Post

Hi,

Going to keep it short because I have lost all desire to write anything really

It’s the end of the road for the blog I think unless something drastic happens like I get kidnapped at the border or something, in which case there will be lots of blogs. The lonely planet says this border crossing is the most dangerous in South America, seems a little strange really I was expecting it to be some cocaine alley in Columbia. Anyhow not to worry I’m fully prepped and in Rambo mode. The water is off in Lima at the moment which is annoying as I don’t think I can have a shower now until I reach Liverpool on Thursday morning, so by then I should be nice and ripe.

I while back I went on the Inca jungle trail. This is an adapted form of the Inca trail for cheapskates such as myself. I reckon it could be better way of doing it though. It involves a bit more variety than just slogging your guts out for the “holy grail” I’m sure the Inca trail is great but involves doing the same thing that every man and his dog have done at a rather inflated premium, so no. I’m sure a lot of people have done the jungle trail but it’s rarely talked about. It’s a bit of a shame really because I thought it was quite good . The main highlight was 79km of down hill riding in the pissing rain, flying through rivers and generally just getting muddy. Then obviously at the end there was Macchu Picchu which wasn’t half bad.

From Macchu Picchu I went to a place on the western coast of Peru called Huacachina. Not a bad little place really nestled away in some sand dunes. It was nice to spend a few of my final days in the sun. It made a nice change really because since leaving Brazil a month and a half ago I have been quite high up which doesn’t do anything for the temperature.

From Huacachina I moved up the coast to a place called Paracas which is also referred affectionately too as the poor mans Galapagos. Well maybe not Paracas but the islands just off the coast. I got a boat out to the islands and had look at some various bits of wildlife that were plying there trade out there. It was an intersting little place but it stunk really rather badly mainly due to all the guano out there (bird crap) every four years all this guano is shovelled up and sold as fertiliser, apparently it fetches a good price. The best fact I learnt from this trip was that the island with all the crap on has a guard that stays there for 3 months at a time. So what do you do, oh yeah you know just guard the crap really.

That takes me up to present time, which finds me in Lima looking for some running water to have a shower. Airport sinks can be quite good for sprucing yourself up so it’s not all doom and gloom though. Just about to get on a bus to a border town in Peru then touch wood there should be a bus to catch from there which again touch wood will go directly to Quito. If this is not the case then I could be ever so slightly buggered. I remain confident though.

Got to go though, getting quite concerned that I may have some kind of bleach on my tongue. A beer seemed to act as a catalyst for further burning. I didnt learn anything from my days on the curry mile, shag

Oh and that is the end
