the day after the stormthe day after the stormthe day after the storm

Kingston, Ontario
I don't dare go outside today - and it's not the -18C temperature (although that plays a farily large part in it). It's just that it hurts my eyes - everything is white and now the sun's out and I think if I go outside I won't be able to see to get back in again!

So the snow hit - and there was a lot, but it was hardly a storm per se - no lightning or thunder, just lots of snow falling over a long period of time. There's lots in the news about accidents on the roads and highways, but as I don't really drive here (I have once, just up the road and back) it doesn't really register to me as a consequence of the recent weather.

So it's sunny for now, but the whole of next week is supposed to be snowing and cold again, so it's very likely that I'll be in Canada in it's biggest snow year in recorded history - very cool! Now if only I could ski....

Maple Madness is on this week, as it's spring break (holidays) for all the kiddies. So I'm planning on heading back up

to Little Cat Consrvatio Area again this year to tap a maple tree and gorge on the gooey goodness within (once it has been boiled down to maple syrup and hardened on the snow).

Have given my boss Rick a taste of Vegemite, and he gives it the thumbs up. Next I'll be making Anzacs and maybe pavlova for Sally (P.S. anyone that wants to send over Cherry Ripes will have her eternal gratitude!).

Will try uploading photos onto the blog here and see if I have any more luck than in the last few months, otherwise I'll post stuff up on my Flickr page.
