Aggie & Jen manage to smile after walking around & barked at by dogs for 1.5 hrs in search of a room. Note the Himilayan mountains behind...=)
Oy. Today is my first day of teachings with the Dalai Lama. Yesterday, my new found buddy, Aggie (Hungarian/german but lives in Israel), awoke @ 530 am from the train, & hopped on a 4 hour bus to Dharmsala. We then proceeded to search for a room to stay in - which was a hard feat, as all rooms were booked due to the teachings & prices were DOUBLED. We are in a dank & cold hotel room that slightly resembles a penitentiary. But the view can not be beat...the himalayan mountains were RIGHT there. BREATHTAKING & beautiful.

Today, day started @ 7am with tea & some pb & j sandwiches. Then it was rain & a long line for registration before we were ushered into a canopied arena area where it was sectioned - foreigners & tibetans. We stood & were in praying mudra when Hi Holiness walked onto the red carpet (seriously). He was a smiling & happy fellow who was waving & saying hello to everyone. His teachings were transmitted over FM radio (english was 92.325..in case you were wondering). He spoke much of attachments, faith, doubt, blind faith & what buddhism is. It was nice to

The view from the 1st hotel. Dank & cold like a jail cell, but the view is breathtaking.
hear him speak so clearly of the many things that we all fundamentally believe in, but are never clearly addressed in such an easy-to-understand way. The morning session ended @ 1130.

Aggie & I then proceeded to head out w/the crowd to grab lunch - i picked up 10 momos for 20 rps. they were not so good, but hey - it's food. The afternoon talks then proceeded at 1pm. I decided to look for a 'short cut'....that results in the steepest climb i have done in a REALLY long time. But the view was amazing...it's like a dream that I'm still here & have seen & heard the dalai lama speak. I'm not sure how long I"m staying...thinking of goa & sunny beaches right now.

I am now at an internet cafe & found a few viruses on my camera memory card. =( So my mission now is to get rid of it - we'll see how easily that can be done. if not, a new memory card. So stay tuned for pics.
