Krystel showing her love “Oi… Daniel!”
The answer to the timeless question; How do you get the attention of people on a red carpet? Now I hear you saying, “What in the world is Emily talking about?” And to fill you in, it is now totally relevant to tell you that one of my latest adventures was to attend the Red Carpet of the BAFTAs with Krystel. Let me take you back to the beginning of my little story…
As most of my tales begin, I was working all week (well since Wednesday) and it was now Saturday night. This called for my first night out in Soho, with Shaun, Krystel, Matt and Danielle (both of who I met at Shaun’s Superbowl Party). Some of the guys at work were in the mood for a drink, so we all headed to John Snow. One of the major drawcards of this place was the fact that it was 1.78 pounds for a pint. It was a nice little place and a good night was had by all. At around 10.30, Shaun, Krystel and myself decided to get some dinner and went to a great little Thai place. Can’t remember the name. We then had
Krystel and Me
We finally make it inside a mini pub crawl, due to the fact that all the places were closing, as it was 11.00. Yes, that’s right 11.00. We finished off at Garlic and Shot. This place is interesting. And yes, that name is a description of what they serve there. They have over 101 shots, and some of which have garlic in them. I went with what the regulars had, and it was basically like shotting a hot, garlicky pasta sauce, as judging by the flavour, it was tomato, Tabasco, and, you guessed it, garlic!
So the next day was the BAFTAs and Krystel and I had arranged to meet up at 8am to line up for a spot along the Red Carpet. This was a great idea… the night before… but when it came to practice, it wasn’t easy. We did it, maybe running 10 minutes late or so. People need to understand that this was a great feat, as nothing is open in London on Sunday morning, as nothing is allowed to be open for more then six hours, and it is in their interest to open later. This meant NO POWERADE!
But we did it! With a little help from
Scrabble, and Harry Potter Uno. We befriended some older ladies, Sue and Jackie, and a student from the States, Laurie. Let the Uno tournament begin! It was amazing how many hours then whiled away!
We had acquired ourselves a good spot in the line, and then it all went pear shaped. The line moved and a there was a surge of people from the back moving forward and pushing in. This was uncool. And mad us rather unhappy and sad. Once the organisers got their gear together, we finally got in and were only a row back. This put us in a pretty good spot. Then came the famous people. One of our favourite parts of the day, was they gave you an earpiece and it told you who was coming down the Red Carpet. This was hilarious, as the commentary was done Eurovision style, which means there was a lot of tongue in cheek. Great moments were when Cuba Gooding Jr was announced and pretty much everyone repeated his name with a “What the…” tone in their voice. Another great moment for the earpiece was when Orlando Bloom arrived and pretty much every girl present sighed his name.
Instead of listing everyone who was there I thought I would let the photos do the talking, so enjoy! I must say though, that pretty much everyone is more beautiful in real life! That is right. Keira Knightly is actually more stunning in the flesh. Hardly fair is it…
So now to the “Oi... Daniel!” comment. Krystel was wanting to get her Uno card with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) on it signed. He kept popping up, but he is so little, that we kept losing him in the crowd. You sound have seen him next to Jeff Goldblum. It was funny. As he was wondering around, I was telling Krystel my never fail way of getting someone’s attention. That’s when I let rip “Oi… Daniel!”. The only thing was, it worked too well, and the whole Red Carpet turned. Yes, there was an Aussie in the house. Unfortunately, he came over as far as us, but Krystel’s Uno card was left unsigned. Boo ?
It was a great night though.
Today was another day off. I finished work at the Monument branch of the retail store I work for yesterday and start at Kings Road, which Megan
tomorrow. I got my new camera yesterday, so today I hit the town and tested it out. I love it! I thought I would share some photos with you of that as well!
Well, I’m off to Leicester Square to meet up with Shaun, Krystel and Little Mick with James now.
Next stop for the blog will be Dublin!
