After Christmas we went down to Lake Naivasha with some friends from work. The lake is about a 2 hour drive from Nairobi in the Rift Valley. We stayed at a really cute little log cabin with open fire place. At night we weren't allowed off the balcony as the animals come up from the lake and graze. We saw zebras both nights coming up to feed. We were told that hippos come up to the cabin as well, but we didn't see any. The cabin was a stones throw away from the lake so on our first day there we went for a big walk and saw zebras, gazelles, hippos and baboons. Unfortunately the giraffes were being shy, but they're usually in the same area. The great thing about this lake is that it's close to Nairobi and really relaxing, so I imagine we'll be spending a few more weekends down there.

It's hard to see them in this picture as they went under water when Paul took the photo, but the group we were watching are in the middle of the photo just above the ducks. Anna, Me and Pen.

I could have sat there all day watching them play in the water

The group we were watching had a lil baby hippo, on the right side. As cute as they were we still kept our distance, hippos can be rather dangerous and apparently move remarkable quickly. We'd each picked out a tree we'd run up if they came out of the water

Usually there's giraffes in those trees, but we didn't see any that day :-(

Don't ask why but we decided we needed to take a silly photo of us because we all happened to be wearing blue and at one stage we were all sitting/standing around and it looked like a K-mart catalogue. Strange things happen in the wild.

In the evening you could turn the lights on in the garden which gave enough light to see the zebras come up to graze without scaring them away

Seems everywhere you go there are zebras, but they're cute so I'm not complaining. These were on the side of the road driving home.
