my adorable cousins in Vancouver....they do hip hop! I'm back! i hope these blogs are still interesting and you're not bored yet with my Asian travels!!! I promise next time to go to a different continent...sorry mom, just being honest!!!
well first, i have to say, air canada is a great airline. expecially if you're sitting first class...which i wasn't! but the variety of movies and tv shows they had even for us cheap'os in coach was enough for 2 flights. i didn't wanna get off the plane, cuz i hadn't watched every episode of entourage yet!!
k but before that happened, i noticed one thing....the vancouver airport is owned by coke. for those of you who don't know, i love mountain dew and am always asking for it and i usually get a confused stare back at restaurants that serve coke products. so as i was looking for it in the airport, i noticed every restaurant and dep only served coke. it was like they had a monopoly over the entire freakin airport. anyways, the abundance of plane movies quickly distracted me from that!
so like always, my first stop was vancouver....and if you refer to picture A1...kidding....the pic of the boys dancing.....i was kept quite
entertained during my 24 hours there. those bogdonov boys are gonna be hotties! i would say the same about the little epstein boy, but i didn't c him.....jeff!!!!!!!!!
so i made it to beijing and found Marissa.......even without bringing the hotel's address and phone number with me!!! not the brightest move on my part. and beijing was FREEZING. i've never been somewhere soooooo windy. thank god i've been to the Great Wall already, cuz i didn't last too long on it this time. I actually had to sit down at one point cuz I almost got blown OFF the wall. could you just see the headline...."skinny canadian dies when thrown from Great Wall by wind." I don't remember much else in Beijing, I was pretty jetlagged! oh ya except the shopping....its worth the plane ticket there for all the cheap shopping! plus they have mountain dew...no i'm kidding, i didn't find any there! new years we spent in a restaurant/bar with all the 15 people who came from korea...chris's co-teachers. there were too many of us for them....so they kept running out of food!!! it made our night really cheap! It was definitely cool going back to places I
had visited last year and recognizing them. It was weird to know my way around a city in China! How often does that happen.
and it was of course great getting back to Seoul, a city I got to know well last year. Oh did I mention the camp I signed a contract with was cancelled??!!! yup, apparently no one else could get visas....somehow i was like the only one that convinced the consulate to speed up the process and get mine done. and since there weren't enough teachers, the camp was cancelled. so i was stuck in seoul with a visa that wasn't valid anymore and no job! but this country being as disorganized as it is, there were plenty of other camps without enough teachers. so I found another job within a day. I actually found a company with 2 camps in a row, so I did one in Seoul, where they put me up in a sweet hotel and then a second one a few days later outside of seoul. the second one just started yesterday and is already proving to be quite boring! my students are 8-10 years old and don't really speak English. so
my fave pic of the wall
I took it while I was sitting down so the wind wouldn't blow me off the wall!! mostly i talk and they just stare back at me!!! sometimes i stare back at them! but still i get no reaction. humor is pretty lost on them as well! we play a lot of hangman. we're also in the middle of nowhere, so I can't even leave this place. It is gorgeous tho, were surrounded by huge mountains.
well, its 8 pm and i'm ready for bed....keeping kids entertained all day is exhausting....wow it took me like 3 tries to spell that....good thing my students barely know english and i don't have to teach spelling!!!
Let me know what you're up to people.....contrary to what you're probably thinking, I have LOTS of free time after the rugrats go to bed, and i'm sure i'll be bored in the next few weeks.
oh....i'd like to say i'm sorry about the lack of snow i've heard about in Montreal, but I'm so not....if I can't board....no one can!!!! hahaha!!!
Peace
