About 14km out of Central London, one finds the open spaces and posh Victorian homes of Richmond. This area was the site of Henry VII's palace in 1500. Much of the open space from that time still exists as a natural preserve.

Loved the update. Also think that the project your mom was telling us about trying to warm up the world a bit sounds amazing. Anything we can do to help? So glad you are getting to experience London and life. I myself love public transportation and think our car-oriented culture is very barbaric and not very civilized.

barbarism
I myself am very barbaric in my love of the automobile. But certainly going without one has made me realize how driving is a luxury and we shouldn't need to (as we do in LA). I'm glad you're following my progress, and I'll let you know what you can do to help with my street task force.
