Another lovely hotelAnother lovely hotelAnother lovely hotel

There goes next month's budget
Lord knows how we´re going to justify this one.

Without even so much as a half hearted "anniversary" to justify it, we´ve gone and booked ourselves into another boutique, luxury, ridiculously nice, Grand Designs-style hotel from heaven. Regular readers willl spot a trend developing that will probably have us home, destitute and begging from affluent friends by Christmas. Hi guys!

The "Medio Mundo" is just about perfect really, interior designed to within an inch of it´s life, staffed by attentive smiley staff, and made solely from gold, platinum and semi precious stones*. It´s making us quite homesick for Brixton. Acually I exaggerate mahossively. Our hotel does rock, but it´s actually only about $2 squid a night more than the flea pit in which we resided whilst in Mexico city.

Before this turns into a snippet from Conde Naste´s World Explorer magazine for people of a Certain Age, some info on Mérida!

We´re absolutely loving it. To quote Natalie Therése, it´s like all the best bits of the towns we´ve been to so far rolled into one. Bustling, lively, loads going on, but in no way dodgy. It´s also lovely and sunny, and once again the food and

the people are lovely. Lots of music again last night, and lots of dancing in the square (as opposed to square dancing, which would be BAD), and on a Sunday too. It was lots of fun people watching - very easy to spot the vacationing yanks (resembling jerking marionettes after too many rum cocktails) from the locals (gliding around with effortless grace)

And we weren´t expecting much from this place! We´d bumped into an English girl at the bus station in Campeche, who told us that the place wasn´t up to much - but then she also said that "it´s Bristol to Campeche´s Bath". Well, I´m for the Bristol camp myself, and so it proved to be! We found Campeche nice, but a trifle dull (I can use words like "trifle" now, since I own a Panama hat). Mérida on the other hand rules - but more of that in the above paragraph. Which you´ve already read.

It´s the last time I´m going to say it (and possibly the first), but come to Mexico! It is completely fab. Right now it´s making Streatham look, well, ordinary. And I don´t say that lightly.

The plan for tomorrow involves

an unpleasant early start, followed by a trip to "seventh wonder of the world" Chíchen Itzá.

In other news, we´ve now run out of English language books, Natalie is now disgustingly brown (and getting a lot MORE emails than me!), and I´m missing Tim Taylor´s Landlord.

Right, we´re off to find some dinner (possibly involving refried beans).

Once more, hope you´re all both dandy and fine, but not necessarily in that order.

"it´s Bristol to Campeche´s Bath"
I'd like to meet that girl & shake her hand

ah...but...
she PREFERRED Campeche/Bath, even though a Bristol resident. We think she´s weird...

Pah to Bath
That girl was obviously a mentaller, it is good to see that the Bristol/Bath divide runs true across the globe and i'm glad that you chose the right camp Si. xxx
