Cusco is known as both the Inca capital of Peru...and the Gringo capital. I remarked to someone that it reminds me of Italy, not only for the cobble stone streets and red tiled roofs, but for the hordes of tourists at every corner. But, this means that accomodations are a bit more comfortable and that you can get pizza for dinner anywhere. I haven´t had pizza yet, instead I usually eat 1/4 of a rotisserie chicken and french fries for $1.50. It also means that they exploit the Inca name beyond belief. Guess what I had for breakfast this morning?...Inca Granola, no joke!

So far I haven´t done much here in the city. I am staying for a week or so to finish up school applications for next year. I have seen a few neighborhoods though, looking for restaurants and artesan markets, and just taking walks to explore. I did go to see one sight, called Sachsayhuaman, pronounced almost exactly like "sexy woman." It is a large site on a hill above Cusco, believed to be a fort or a religious sanctuary of some sort. The stone work is unbelieveable. How did they carve the stones with precision, and then

To get a good view.
haul them up to the site and place them together so snuggly?

"How did they carve the stones with precision, and then haul them up to the site and place them together so snuggly?" actually, i know how, i saw it in a movie, see, long ago, "predators" from another planet assisted them, and in turn, the civilians worshipped them
