When spotted a very cheap Ryanair-flight straight from Tampere to Dublin, all we could do was to book and go! You always need a little get away-break once in a while anyway, eh? So, after a little car ride to Pirkkala on a cold, gray Wednesday noon we took the plane and soon we could already enjoy the direct sunlight above the fluffy clouds. Spectacular!

Dublin airport was really nice and easy, directly when walking out there were the bus stops so could take the bus heading to town. You've got couple of alternatives: the more expensive bus by Airlink (6e) 748 and 747, or the cheaper Dublin Bus (1,90e) 16A or 41 for example. 16A goes to the main city street, O'Connell St., and by 41 you'll get to the Lower Abbey Street. The 41 ride took around one hour in the evening traffic and it was fun watching the houses, kids coming from school and all that stuff in a nice, warm evening sunshine.

The hostels were quite expensive, around 30e per night even in a dormitory, but ours wasn't bad at all. Ok, it wasn't the cheapest, but it was close to the city and the bus

station, so it was alright. The only problem was that despite the warm weater (around +15 celsius), the rooms were all the time hot like an oven. So we kinda got baked during the nights. There was also the train going just next the window, but I didn't get too bothered about that. The dormitory was filled most of the nights, but unlike I had feared, not much drunken teenagers, yippee! Actually, all the guests seemed to be around +25 or so...

Dublin is a great city just to hang around; the city itself is small, and it's easy to walk around. So yea, we went shopping and dining out almost every day (although for budget travelers it's possible to cook at the hostel, as the kitchen was really good). Some tips: veggie restaurant Cornucopia on 19 Wicklow Street was really good, try the breakfast! I so recommend😊. Eating out in Dublin is expensive, and the drinks are even more expensive, but well, actually the prizes were pretty much the same as at home. And when on a holiday, it's a MUST to pamper yourself a little before returning to that everyday routines again...At least that's what I keep

On a rainy day just had to go there...Really nice 50's design! Saw "The Kingdom". Not a bad movie, something refreshing among the stories full of black and white stereotypes.
telling myself, haha.

The weather was a little like crap most of the time, but hey, no difference to the Finnish weather, so didn't have at least any kind of a culture shock back there. But our last day was like summer, sunny and everything, and we had a great walk around the city. Saw the Trinity College and kinda regretted why hadn't chosen that one for the exchange year. The place was full of old lovely buildings, and you could feel the intelligence absorbing to your brain! Absolutely "deadly", as an Irish would say😊.
