Hi folks,

I regret to advise it has not been a good week for the old farts on the technical front. Firstly, we lost our camera a few days ago, and today our notepad computer has died on us.

Wrt the camera, we had just finished a tour of the Inca ruins of the Sacred Valley near Cusco, when we took a motobike taxi over a heavily cobbled road to our hotel. Given we had the camera (with a hundred or so photos from the ruins that day) at the end of the days travels, but not later at the hotel, we can only assume it vibrated out of my pocket in transit, and one Peruvian moto driver is much the richer for it. The alternative is that it was stolen, but I guess we'll never know for sure. So not only did we lose all our photos of the Sacred Valley that day, but Machu Picchu was the next day. While I brought a disposable camera, it was a pretty poor substitute, although some friends that we met up there have allowed us to download some of their shots for our proposed blog. Nice timing, huh! Fortunately, I managed to purchase a new camera on return to Cusco. The good news is I bought it from a market for around half normal retail price, the bad news is the instructions are in Spanish! Fortunately, I''ve learnt how to use all the functions, so I thought our problems were over.

Now today, I find that the computer that was holding my Cusco/Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu blog narratives and photos has packed up on me. My specialist IT advisor, Professor Lake, has convinced me that my chances of a satisfactory repair in Bolivia is slight, so it appears I will have to rethink how I go on blogs from this point forward. So bear with me, my brain is ticking over, but I haven't a solution as yet. For those of you whose lives are so miserable that our blogs are a rare bright spot, my deepest apologies.

Of interest, we have now travelled south from Cusco to Puna on Lake Titicaca, and have just spent the night on a luxury catamaran crossing the lake into Bolivia. Oh, how I'm missing selling sugar!

Cheers, Neil

Oh Noooo!
Oh Noooo Neil, how could you do that to me. I've been hanging by my toenails waiting for you to get to Machu Picchu so I could hear every little detail and see the pics. Now I'm going to have to wait until you get home. You don't want to cut the holiday short do you?

Oh Noooo!
Don´t worry, Lorna, I´m looking at alternatives to get the ´blog ship´ rolling again. Hopefully you won´t have to wait till we get home, so watch that screen. Mind you, I do tell a better story over one of your home cooked meals!
