Left Prague on Thursday to return home to Manchester. My last couple of days in Prague were nice and relaxing - its been nice having a good 8+ hours sleep a night, can’t remember when I last had a good night’s sleep.

Tuesday was fairly low key, weather wasn’t the best (cold and a little wet) so stayed indoors when I could. Checked out the Bodies exhibition which (ignoring ethical queries over the sourcing of the bodies from China) was pretty awesome. I’m guessing it’s the same one that was shown in Perth earlier in the year. Having watched the related TV show (with the live dissections and creepy German guy), being close to actual dead bodies with specific tissue, muscles, organs etc revealed for close inspection didn’t faze me in the slightest, but the sight of a dead foetus skull freaked me out big time.

One of the coolest parts was the section showing various arteries (including a full ‘body’ with arteries and no bones/tissue) suspended in a liquid and preserved with a polymer that mad the arteries stand out in bright reds and blues like something from the Great Barrier Reef. Is it strange that I wanted one of these pieces to display at home?

Went to the movies to see Stardust (pretty awful) and then had dinner at my favourite little vego restaurant with a couple of glasses of yummy hot wine - one of the few upshots of the cold weather :- )

Didn’t do much on Wednesday either, watched a movie (Being Jane - not bad for a period piece) walked around some and had a lovely dinner (with a delicious absinthe cocktail) at Radost FX which has a CD store, lounge and café - my kinda establishment.

Returned to Manchester on Thursday, had a gig on Thursday night (Iron & Wine - check out the beard on the lead singer!) and Friday was a relaxing day off work.

Saturday was a bit crazy - went to Coventry for a gig which meant a stopover in Birmingham and then a look around Coventry city.

Birmingham is pretty cool, crazy thing is the Bull Ring shopping centre which is a shiny silvery monstrosity.

Coventry is really nice. Lots of old buildings, the remains of a cathedral bombed during WWII (as was most of Coventry), a car museum (well this is Jaguar country) and a weird blue flashy light thing (meant to represent the times of Coventry’s 36 off sister cities).

Oh and the gig (Gravenhurst) was pretty awesome, crazy bit was a guitarists from one of the support acts playing the guitar with a cordless drill (freaks!).

And its back to work tomorrow …

Bye for now

Pete
