I don't want to encourage him too much. I can just see him 'putting up' in Austria with stencils of himself (of course) with "There Are No Koalas in Austria" just so those ill informed Americans will know that they are not Down Under. He's so damn patriotic. How much can a Koala Bare?
9th October.....................Vienna Continued:....................

One could spend their whole time in Museums and I limit myself to ones that may be more interesting or different. The Haus der Musik uses computer interactive technology to explain the physics of sound. There are also separate rooms devoted to the great composers of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss and Mahler. It was interesting to see the actual tired looking glasses that Brahms and Schubert actually wore and the baton of Richard Strauss. The architecture in Vienna is varied, spectacular, highly ornamental, generally in good condition and too many to talk about here in any detail. Suffice to say, one continues to walk around looking up with your mouth open and saying "What is THAT" only to find out it is only a bank or something and not even mentioned in the guide book. Having a bike made scooting around the various large parks easy and pleasurable and I rode over to the fairground which has a Ferris Wheel which I went on to get an aerial view of the city. The city is so large that landmark buildings are dwarfed by its sprawl.

Off to Slovakia and Hungary Next

"What is THAT"
The The Haus der Musik sounds like a fantastic experience. Mahler seems to be quite the man of the moment for some reason. He has been played a lot on ABC Classic FM. Peter might be interested to hear that somebody has been spray painting "Gustav Mahler" around Toronto for some reason. I have found a photo (link below). It isn't particularly inspiring or artistic as far as graffiti goes, but quite curious. Try this link for a picture (Hope I've done it right). http://www.flickr.com/photos/davetill/sets/72157602339434368/ I'd love to hear about your experiences in Slovakia and Hungary, but assume you couldn't post online from there? I spent a day going through Slovakia in 1998 and was thoroughly intrigued by it. I would love to go back, but for now, will have to live vicariously through your adventures. I imagine it would be wonderful cycling country.

Mahler's The Man
Hi Jen Yes it is interesting that someone has chosen to put him up- no comments or artistic merit attached to it. It's not really a tag as such either, it seems that someone has just discovered him and wants to share. Isn't that nice. The Slovakia, Hungary and Slovinia blogs are yet to come. It's a matter of when I get the chance when I am away. Internet access is not always possible or convenient. That last lot you got in a lot was when I was in Ljubiljana and the internet was at the hostel and was free! Chhers, Pedallingpete
