Hello from day 3 in Munich. We arrived early in the morning Tuesday off the night train. With not much to do and a free day of train riding, we decided to head out to Dachau. Dachau was the first concentration camp built by the Nazis. It was a great experience. I couldn't believe how close the concentration camp was to the city of Dachau. There were houses right next to the walls...

The next day we took the trip out to the castles near Fussen. Neuchwanstein is the big fairy tale castle that was used by Disney as the model for the the Disney World castle. It was very pretty, but also very touristy. We decided not to go in as the castle really was just built for show only a couple hundred years ago. We have plans of checking out the interior of real castles later in the trip.

Later in the evening, we went to the famous Hofbrauhaus in Munich. After about a half hour, we finally found it. It was also a little too touristy for our liking, but we still had a lot of fun. Its open seating, so you find an open seat at a table and just sit down with complete strangers. We sat down next to an eldery man and his son. We immediately notice they are American. The elderly man asks where we are from and Nicole tells him St Louis, MO. He says he is too! He lives in the Central West End. We talked to them until they left, such a small world.

Today we visited the Englishergarten. Its a large city park, bigger than Forest Park and Central Park in NYC. We had lunch at the Hofbrauhaus Beergarden. I had Halfes Hend'l (half a chicken) and Purees (mashed potatoes). I love the food here.

Tomorrow we head to Austria by car. I can't wait to try and drive on the autobahns!

Looks Cool
The Pics are so cool you must be down loading them LOL. Looks like alot of up and down walking, or maybe you where really running in the subway to get to the next castle! That looks like a full meal, and with that mug of ale I'd need a nap to go with it?

Beer probably helps the body recover from all the running around. I say keep drinking. The pictures are great! It's nice that you're sharing your trip with us. I tell Nicole that I'm having to live vicariously through you both. : )
