Saturday in the Park, I think it was the 14th of July

Today was probably the most beautiful in the time I´ve been here. I decided to continue my museum walk.

Two of my four museums today were located in or near the Parque 3 Febrero (the largest park, or more accurately, network of parks) in the city. I started off with the Museo Evita (can´t go to BsAs for the first time and not see that one). It was pretty interesting- it chronicled her life in order with photos, old dresses, and other memorabilia. It´s really baffling that somebody with that level of social conciousness (she gave women the right to vote and hold office, as well as spent much of her time as First Lady involved in creating social programs, health services, and educational opportunites) could have also not only sheltered but WELCOMED nazi war criminals.

From there I went to the Museo de Artes Plásticos Eduardo Sívori. I was a bit disappointed- not much of interest there. It was across the street from a bucolic lake, and the whole park just seemed so peaceful. So I decided to use my unexpected extra time to rent a bicycle. This park has bike paths everywhere, and there were tons of people both skating and cycling. It was a lot of fun, although when I walk I notice more of the scenery.

After the park I walked along Avenida del Liberador (sided on the north by what is a park in it´s own right) to the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. This is a traditional art museum. The bottom floor is European art, and the upstairs is Argentine art. I enjoyed the latter more.

Afterwards, I visited a crafts fair that was taking place across the street from the museum. I wound up spending so much time there that it started getting dark, and thus my fourth museum will have to wait for another time.
