This is the Swiss Faming Region
We headed out of Klosters, Switzerland and started a full day of driving. We worked our way out of the Alps and headed North towards Zurich. We drove through the fertile farming region at the base of the Alps. The highway lead us through a Swiss Army base and then came to a set of flags; we were now leaving Switzerland and entering Liechtenstein.

The country of Liechtenstein was interesting. It is only 150 Km sq. The country is famous for three things: Postage stamps & passport stamps (because everyone wants to show they’ve been there) & dentures (the countries main export). We stopped and got our stamps, took a picture and headed down the road. In less than an hour, we were out of the country.

Next, we entered into Austria. It was like something out of a movie. As we watched the car in front of us, the border guard stops them by saying, “Halt! Papers please.” The border guards made the car pull over to the side. We had our passports ready, but we got waved through. We drove for hours towards Inssbruck. Along the way, we drove through tunnels that were over 25 kms

long, that’s longer than the Country of Liechtenstein!

We finally reached the City of Innsbruck. The city had a nice old section, but other than that I was not impressed. It reminded me of what I’ve seen in pictures of Eastern Europe. We checked in to our hostel, which was a huge concrete building with small windows. After exploring for a bit, we headed for diner at an Austrian restaurant. The food was great….sausage and beer!
