List of Ports:

18th May Friday
Flaam to Laanefjorden

19th May Saturday
Laanefjorden to Kjeringevaagen (NW Nesoeyna)

20th May Sunday
Kjeringevaagen to Floroe

9:50 am

We all had breakfast before departure, don’t know what to expect outside the cove. Rained and blew most of the night but at the moment it’s clear blue skies, a little windy. Lars has put out just the Jib and we are doing 8 - 10 knots. Winds are not as high as yesterday but we are going with the wind and it’s alot more comfortable.
The countryside is changing with alot more farms scattered thoughtout the small islands. The islands are lower than in the fjords.

16:05 pm

We arrived at Floroe quite early. The harbour has been expanded with floating jetties. It looks funny looking at the chart as the jetties are not included. There are alot of motor boats and not many sailing boats. We’re moored on one of the outer jetties. Maybe we could find the Harbour Master so we could have shore power.
Lars, Val and Anne-Charlotte go for a short walk to find out how the village is. They come back saying there are plenty of restaurants for an evening meal.

21st May Monday
Floroe

Last night we managed to find a key card from the Hotel near us. Everyone’s going to have a great longgggg shower even if it cost 10 NOK per 4 mins. Firstly we need to shop for milk ect.. I’ve used powdered milk for breakfast today so shopping is high on our list. After shopping we all go into the village and have a look into all the different shops. Val and Lars went into one of the banks so Val could get some money but instead the machine wouldn’t give him his card back. We had a very unhappy Val. It seemed like the machine had Val’s card stuck somewhere so he was told to go back a little later and the staff would see what had happened. Val was so cross he was about to explode. We all went to Lunch in an amazing Café just on the corner of the main road. We all had amazing sandwiches. After lunch Val and Lars went back to the bank, Val with his passport and everything else that i-d him. He was lucky. The machine had got his card stuck inside and the staff managed to get it out. It’s the only card Val had to get money out and it’s from Australia. If he had lost it, he would of had to return to Australia to get another one.
We took is easy the rest of the day.

22nd May Tueday

We took it easy in the morning. We had visitors from another Swedish boat.
They were interested in finding out about the frequencey on the VHF radio for the weather. They were going in our direction to Trondheim.

13:00 pm
We departed Floroe after some lunch. We made a stop at the Shell depot and filled up 738 liters on the Starbord side. The winds began to pick up and we had rain all the way to Silda.

18:05 pm
We arrived quite late at Silda which is a small place with about 13 people living there. It also has a pub so after dinner Anne-Charlotte said we should find the pub for a drink. It started to rain very hard and we made it to the School where there are showers and toilets. 20 NOK for a shower and 2 NOK for the loo. Val had passed the dustbin and ended up carrying it around with him until the path bback to the boat. He’d gone right passed them, they were at the beginning of the jetty that we were moored at.
We met a lady taking her dog for a walk. First person and only person that we’ve met on this island. She gave us direction to the pub and we found it alright, right out into the next bay. There were bridges and footpaths to get there but ut was very windy and rained off and on all the way. We found it closed!!!!
Lovely place, beautiful view to the other side of the inlet and the mountains on the far side of the passage. We made it back wet and cold. We ended up watching a film “Eragon”.

23rd May Wednesday
Silda to Sandshamn

24th May Thursday
Sandshamn to Aalesund

25th - 27th May
Aalesund

Today, Friday, we had a good look around Aalesund. Anne-Charlotte found a lovely sheep-skin jacket for 720 NOK. It’s lovely and suits her. Lars and Val went back with all our goodies from our shopping and we started a very slow climb up to the top of the hill where there is a restaurant looking out over the whole of Aalesund. It took me quite a long time to get up the 58 + 418 steps. It felt like a thousand. We all had lunch before coming back down. Easier going down than up. I was exhausted and felt it in my legs. It was worth it just for the view.
While I took a rest, Lars and Val went back up to the top. Later in the evening we went to “Sjoebua”. A very exclusive and very lovely restaurant and we all had the most amazing dinner. Sjoebua is one of the most expensive and well known restaurant’s in the whole of Norway. The meal was so amazing that there is not enough words to discribe it.

Sunday
Anne-Charlotte is leaving us today at 11:20 am. We found out that from the Tourist Information Office she could get a bus to the Airport.
Lars and I did most of the washing and drying ashore. Sorted out the cabin ready for our next guests, Bob and Shûn, who are arriving at 16:10 pm. I was going to the Airport to meet them but I was so tired after the long climb, that Lars went instead. It’s Lars birthday today. I made muffins “Apple and Cinnimon” and made curry for dinner. No much of a dinner.
Bob and Shân arrived on time. They’ve has a long day which started at 5:00 am. We all ended up with an early night. Tomorrow will be a long day as we’re going to the most beautiful Fjord in Norway. It will take all day and the next to get out which may be a good thing as the winds are going to pick-up to 20 m/s.

28th May Monday

Aalesund to Geiranger

9:50 am
We left Aalesund with our new crew Bob and Shân from Wales. There is a brisk wind and we’ve put up the main sail. WhoopE!!!! Bob got a bit wet as the main sail had alot of folds.
Geirangerfjord is even more lovely than all the fjords we’ve been in. Here there are alot of larch tree’s and silver berch. There are alot of tree’s and vegetation that I don’t know the name of but it’s really wonderful. The farm and houses are far up the mountain and it looks like the only way up is to walk. They have pullies to take up food and other supplies. The waterfalls are fantastic with rainbows going into the water. We passed a mine on the way in and saw loads of enterances into the mine. The tops of the mountains are covered in snow and the wind blowing down from them is quite cold.

18:10 pm
On our arrrival at Geiranger we had alot of help mooring. Very friendly German’s. We ended up in the Pub/Restaurant. The food looked too good to miss so the Bar-Bee-Que will have to wait another day. Lars and I ordered Kid (baby goat). It wa great and then Lars, Shûn, Val and myself had Elk. Bob had Monkfish. Everything wa really great. It’s been a hard day with lots of sun and being sprayed by waterfalls.

List of ports

29th May Tuesday
Geiranger to Glomsetvaagen

30th May Wednesday
Glomsetvaagen to Ona

31st May Thursday
Ona to Kristiansund

1st June Friday
Kristiansund to Vingvaagen

2nd June Saturday
Vingvaagen Bay to Trondheim

9:45 am

Fantastic again. Beautiful weather. We’re all in short’s it’s so warm. We only need a jacket if we’re at the wheel as it’s a little cool up there. A lovely trip to Trondheim. Calm seas but the winds in the wrong direction. I don’t mind, calm I can deal with.

17:45 pm
We’ve all decided to find somewhere nice to have our last meal together. Tomorrow Bob and Shân must leave us. Shân has been trying to talk Bob into staying for another week. He’s been working too much and needs the break. He’s told Lars that if he doesn’t have enough crew to sail Dawnbreaker home from Svalbard to call and he’ll join him. Nice. Lars, Val and I go for quite a walk. I was exhausted when I got back. We both got the same name “Fru Inger”. We found it on the water front. Bob and Shân have booked a taxi that’s picking us up at 19:30. Lars and I + Val, have a rush shower before leaving. “Fru Inger Restaurant” is lovely. We had a waitress named Annette who was really a bundle of joy that her mistakes we could just ignore. The food was great. Desert and coffee we had out on the deck in a lovely comfortable chairs and they had laid out blankets which were very soft and warm. Our taxi with driver Rune came and picked us up. He’s coming back tomorrow at 9:00 am to pick up Shân and Bob and will drive them out to the Airport. It’s been a really lovely day.
