Came within inches of getting knocked off my bike at 90 kph yesterday by a motorist in a hurry, Almost decided I’d had enough right then and there. But the afternoon was much better and today was beautiful blue sky all day. Cannot believe how good if feels tonight. We’re in McLaren Vale. We’re here not so much because it is a major wine centre (though that certainly helps sway the logic), but because McLaren is Helen’s maiden name. How could we miss having a glass of wine here? The night before last we were in Mt Gambier where there are a series of amazing crater lakes right in town and last night we were in Meningie where we saw the most spectacular sunset with herons and storks on Lake Albert. Crossed the Murray River on a cable ferry this morning on the way here. Almost got our inter-bike communication system working this afternoon. We’ve had our mp3 players going for the last couple weeks, since just after Armidale. They sure do make the long roads easier. But I can hardly wait til we can actually talk with each other too.

shells on the road?
I knew about the McLaren and love that there is a place with that name that makes wine (it does make things easier), but shells on the road? that might make riding a bit more difficult, not to mention being run off the road by another bike. I must say we are eager to hear how things are going, knowing full well how exhausting and emotionally tense road riding is. We think of you often and send our love. the triumph is still un registered. It seems the back tail light has a life of its own and passing the tests have only come up with failure. Oh well, the bicycles are working fine and we rode 120 miles last weekend to add our part to the MS foundation. We love you, Merritt and Tom
