Kathlene 5 restaurant
where we celebrated Amir's birthday. its a fancy rooftop restaurant. Behind is People's park Last Day in Shanghai - China.
For those of you who lost our tracks, We have been exactly 4 months in China.
We started our journey in Hong Kong 15/2/07 - chinese new year and made a clock wise (south - east - north and south again) circle.
After 2.5 month we arrived to Shangahi - abit tired of trains, smoky busses and temples.
We decided to settle down and practice our chinese - so we spent there 1.5 months.
It is right, Shanghai is not like any other city in China. Without any special effort and a bit upgraded budget you can think you leave in a western city - and your apartment happened to be in China town.
But it is still china and you might even know the chinese better cause many in Shanghai speaks English.
So to give and Idea of what we experienced - here is our favourit list:
- Studing chinese 3 times a week, we are able to deal with taxi drivers, shpoing , tell our weekly schedule and other basic things.
- we had one israeli friend in Shanghai - Ram, who showed us the hot places to go out and gave
us tchina from home (golmit)
- we had two dinners in Shangahi top end restuarnts.
- we were regular customers in Element Fresh (internatioinal food) and Dragon Fly (stylish maasage place)
- Amir worked 2 weeks with handicaped childern and Noa had caligrafy classes.
- Few out of city tours , 3 walking tours , markets , shopping , museums and parks.
- three mobile sony play stations and 1 fake ipod which already doesnt work.
It ended with 4 packages full with things that nobody needs (total of 40kg) which we hope to meet someday in israel.
next stop is Tokyo, you might expect to see us back home in early july.
