Rhys and Clark and I ready for the Strolling of the Heifers parade
This is my first entry in my travel blog for my upcoming trip to Britain. I leave one week from today, and I still have a lot to do to get ready, including learning how to do these blog entries! I spent time today choosing my clothes and getting my gear organized. Still lots to do to prepare for the workshop I’m leading at work in July and to leave the house in good shape for Bob and the boys. Three weeks is a long time to be away from home.

Today in Brattleboro it was the 5th annual Strolling of the Heifers parade. Clark and Graham played in their school bands, and Rhys and I marched with the New England Youth Theater. Rhys was dressed as a cowboy, and I was some kind of farmer’s dairy maid or something. It was a strange experience to actually be in the parade. We were toward the end, and we had to wait in a parking lot off Flat Street for nearly an hour for most of the parade to progress up Main Street before we fell in. Main Street was lined with people, 5-6 deep, and it took a while to get in a groove of how to behave. Rhys waved and mimed pulling himself up the big Main Street hill on an invisible rope. We were followed by the School of Circus Arts with a 15 + foot iron wheel, rolling along the street, on which they were climbing and doing various dangerous acrobatic maneuvers.

Cow lovers
Hi Sara! I love that you're doing this blog and excited that I have the opportunity to subscribe to it! I will look forward to hearing about your travels and adventures along the way. I love that we Vermonters love our cows so much that we do a parade with them. It makes me feel very proud to live in such a place. Thanks for the invitation to meet you here, in your blog. Have a great trip! Lee
