Only 9 hours of the voyage left, have had 2 hours of sleep and going strong! Things have gone eventually pretty smoothly so far. Qatar Airways is just magnifique, I so recommend them, it's pure luxury! Even for the economic-class travelers, which is cool. And the staff is super polite, and the food is fantastic. So, first time ever am actually looking forward to get back to the plane. Also the airport is nice, the best thing here is a free internet-connection, unlimited use! Brilliant!!
Yesterday was nice in Paris, had a couple of hours to kill there before going to the airport, so I decided to take the metro and move around a little. Went to the Hotel de Ville, crossed the bridge, thought about checking Notre Dame but when saw the 50 meters long line of tourists waiting to get in, I skipped that idea very fast. Instead had a nice picnic in the park. Well, nice until it started raining. While I was fighting against the wind and trying to protect the backpack, a French man came to chat with me something about the Parisian weather. Soon it turned out that he was a really passionated traveler, and had also been to Finland and even knew some basic phrases. I was really impressed. So, I walked with him a while, and then went to the best book store in Paris (at least I think so...), Shakespeare & Co. The atmosphere there is so cosy and nice, piles of books laying around everywhere. You can also go to the upstairs, take any book you want from the shelf and read it there as long as you like. I spent there quite a long time, as it was anyway raining outside. Then took the metro back to the station to find my favorite ghetto-bus 350. I passed the bus-stops, and just couldn't find the sign. Nononono!! This is NOT happening again. I asked one other bus driver and she told me to find another street further, so I went there and saw nothing. Then asked a man passing by and he told me to go back to the station, but I knew already the stop hasn't been there since sept 2006. I was just walking in a fucking circle again. So, at this point I started sweating a bit despite the cool weather as had the mental horror-pictures of myself running again at CDG like some crazy chica, and really didn't want the past to repeat itself. I still had enough time, so decided to check the metro-map and find the way. Standing next to the train station, thinking and looking straight ahead, I just suddenly spotted the sign 350 at the corner of the street! Yes! WHY is it necessary to move the stops every other month and make innocent passengers nearly panic?? At the bus had to listen the Official Cheer Up Song '07 two times in a raw to cool down again. Pheew.
At CGD still had to change some currency, as it was amazingly IMPOSSIBLE to do anywhere else. Don't ask me why. They just told me so. I was at terminal 3, and asked the info-dude where to change the money. The American Express Change was in terminal 2 and my plane was leaving from 1. Yeah, just SO perfect. Why is everythigng always so freakin difficult in France? So, took the train-thingy to 2, wandered there around for a while to find the desk. That was in 2D. She said they didn't have any rupies but MAYBE there might be some at the other changing desk. And where would this be? At 2A. So, another 10 minutes walk and finally I got there, changed the money, walked back to the train, and got to terminal 1. All this took 45 minutes, and luckily just made it to the check in. Yippee!
Am looking forward to get to New Delhi, really really happy to see Emma again, and waiting for the crazy trip to begin! Take care you all! I think I....neeed... some...sleeeeep...
