The Meteor Crater
Spectacular when you climb the rim and look over the edge. Took my breath away. Wolfe Creek
The road to Wolfe Creek was pretty rough in places but not too bad, it was the Tanami road. The extra suspension in the car is working out a treat.
The camp ground at the crater was free, with just a long drop and few trees.
The crater itself is pretty spectacular. You can climb the 35m to the rim and it is just awesome. The landscape in the crater is very different to that on the other side. The lushest part is in the middle where a natural salt lake is. Lots of water gathers there in the wet season. Decided not to climb down into the crater, rocks were quite loose in places.
We became posh bush campers by having biscuits and cheese at the camp site watching the sun set. It sets early in WA down by just before 5pm. When the sun started to set it was not that spectacular, but still very good. We are getting picky though, cos we complained it was not that good. But by the end it was one of the best ones. We now refer to ourselves as Sunset Nazis.
Had our first go at
Looking back
From the top of the crater looking back at the landscape outside it. In the foreground you will see our car, quite small. bush washing (ourselves), that was an interesting experience with all the insects flying around. But a great success. It was good to feel clean again. Bruce got buzzed out after we retreated into the Kamper to read to get away from the mozzies. Then they just buzzed up against the mesh and kept on running into it, they are dump insects, but there were several outside the mess and the sound was scary!
The sun sets early, and rises even early, up at 6am with the sun. (We survived the night in Wolfe Creek without hunted, killed or eaten by John Jarred (spelling)). Need to put up the windows next time so we get a bit more sleep. Everyone else was gone by 7:30 or 8am, we did not leave until after 9, and caught over half of them on the road out.
Have checked into Halls Creek for a couple of nights, they have a great pool in the park, and we get to wash properly. A shower is never over rated.
But you would not believe it, another equipment damage issue. We were stationery at the entrance to the caravan park, just about to get out
Posh Camping
Biscuits and cheese as the sun sets, nothing better! to book in, and the guy in the Large Nissan Patrol, with even larger caravan 4m in front of us decided to stick his car in reverse without looking. Straight into the front of us. He then put it in drive, and drove off. I chased after him to advise him politely what he did, he did not even know he had hit us. There were several witness for our side which was good. Not much damage, just a bent and dented bull bar and brackets. So now insurance company pays for the new bull bar, and not us (cos of the broken spotlight mountings). You can have some luck. Bruce had a quiet moment (for about 1 hour) before he went over and got the guys details. This issue is just a real piss me off moment.
Went for our first serious swim today, without any extra wildlife in the pool, very refreshing.
Heading off to the Bungle Bungles in a few days, then should be in Kunnunura by next weekend (2nd or 3rd of June). Staying there for about 1 week. Next update will be when we reach Kunnunura.

Sunset Nazis
This is the average sunset we started the night with. is going really well, and it beats putting up a tent each night. It has proven to be dust proof just like we were sold, which is fantastic. Can be set up in 2 to 3 minutes, and packed up in about 10 minutes. For those potential Kimberly Kamper owners, be warned that during the day with all the windows open, you can see straight through the thing, not good for those intimate moments. I will not say how we found out.
Have not had any car or tent fights. A few discussions on points but that is all. Have not got bored of each other yet.
Both of us have gone through 2 books, and nearly finished the 3rd. The first 2 books were in the first week, we have slowed down a bit as there is more to see. Had to stock up again in Alice Springs at a book sale, do not want to run out.
Have not left anything at home that we needed (except for the multi-meter and CRC, thanks Bruce). And have used everything we bought except the spares (but there is still time for that), and the tables. The breakfast

This is how the night ended, suitably impressed again. bar on the kamper is working out well.
The weather - have had some extremes. In Alice Springs it was down to 5 at night time, had the heater on, slept with a beanie and socks. Very cold. Days were only about 16. Now the days are about 30+, and the nights getting down to about 15. Which is so much better, we can finally put the ugg boots and jumpers away. Bruce is complaining it is humid, but he is a Kiwi.
