Hiroshima Blow-over

So after taking a booked train (as the picture will show) from Kyoto, we arrived in Hiroshima two hours later. We arrived with high hopes, only to have them quashed and burned, like a fat kid playing with fire and ants... All the tourist info had lead us to beleive that Hiroshima would be a town of history, sites, museums and the rest. But in reality it is a city where one horrific act will stay with its name for all time. The Atomic bomb site and Peace museum were very touching to see, but the use of these things has been explotied by the tourist buisness to a height I never thought imaginable. Of course all people use historic places and sites of interest to make money. But it seems like they have taken this town and thrown in random things just to take more money from hard working tourists.
Point being: I think seeing the A-bomb Dome and Peace museum is worth the time and money; but I would suggest sticking to that. It's horrifying to see what humans are capable of, and this town grasps that.

The Peace Museum; a very somber site indeed.

Me, the tourist tower, and an interesting side-walk, or should I say skywalk, they have in Shimonoseki.

Couldn't disagree with you more
We were in Hiroshima the weekend before you and we did find the peace park and the museum moving, however we didn't think that the city exploited such an atrocity at all. How any guide could suggest a sense of history in a city that was obliterated only 62 years ago seems idiotic, but then again if your guide book considers anything from before 1945 to be ancient history then it is understandable. If the city exploited the bomb drop from tourists then why was entrance to the museum only 50yen - hardly enough to cover the running costs of the museum let alone exploit a profit. Just what else where you referring to as random things to take money from tourists?
