For our first big-ish trip we headed to Denmark to see Princess Mary and her baby... we weren't successful in that pursuit but it was otherwise fun!

On the way to and from Denmark there were so many wind turbines. Anthony claims that 70% of Germany's power is wind generated. I dunno if he made the statistic up but it's believable after driving through the country.

There were also A LOT of yellow paddocks, which I think is canola but I'm waiting on a positive identification from Jac before confirming : ) Anthony's driver (no he doesn't have a chauffer!!!) said that they make diesel out of it.

We saw Hamlet's Castle (ok so it's fictional but still cool) in Helsingor and attempted to visit Hans Christian Anderson sights in Odense but someone forgot to tell us that everything is closed on Mondays. Oops. Nevermind. We made it to Legoland so that was pretty funny but felt a little like being stuck in the 80s lego exhibitions we used to go and visit when they came to Sydney!

We also went on a completely mental ride at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen called the "Star Flyer" (it's actually sounds much more exotic in Danish but that's the translation). We were swung around in circles, way too high up in the air and suspended only by some flimsy metal chains! I don't know why I thought it would be fun because I was actually petrified the entire time - strange for me considering I usually love scary rides!

OK, point of order. I said 70% of Denmark's power was wind generated. And I read that in Lonley Planet. Anyway, Steph left off the best bits of the trip - Carlsberg Brewery Tour and Legoland The tour of the Brewery was pretty cool, but the best bit was all the free beer at the end. Steph got a free Coke too 😊 We started playing this Shuffleboard game that was in the pub.

Not sure if it was the adrenalin or the beers but all I remember at some point later walking out having bought our own Carlsberg shuffleboard. Nice spending control Anth and Steph... So if you come and visit we can have a game, but I have to warn you Steph's a pretty intense shuffleboarder.

Legoland was cool thanks to the rain - nobody was there so we didn't have to line up anywhere. We managed to cover the entire park in 2 hours so it's just as well we got free tickets from the hotel. We just read this week that someone died after being hit by one of the rollercoasters there - so much for good safe family fun!

But wait there's more!! I forgot to include the two most important pieces of information for my Mum! Whilst in Denmark we went to not one, but TWO museums!! The National Museum at Copenhagen, which was pretty good even though the Danish history section was mostly under construction; and the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde which was quite small but really cool to see these 5 Viking ships which were discovered underwater and recontructed piece by piece! Anthony got to dress up as a Viking also so that was pretty funny.

Don't tell the kids!
Hi guys, i'm praying that our 3 angels (they are all asleep as i write) don't see the pics of your lego land trip - they are dying for a plane trip (as am I!) and would love to see you both again and some lego while we're at it! Must say if there's any chance of a shuffleboard playoff it will most likely have to occur in Oz - pete hates flying and there aren't too many boats heading your way! You are bookmarked in my "Travel" folder - at least i can FEEL like i'm getting close to an o/s trip that way! haha!!

Canola (or Rapeseed) confirmation : )
From Jac! (how smart does she sound!!!) This could either be canola or rapeseed as they both look the same when they are grown. Canola is essentially a type of rapeseed. Rapeseed, if it is going to be used for biodiesel has usually a slightly different composition to canola as instead of having the fatty acids that make good cooking oil and margarine (C18:1) they have different fatty acids that are a longer chain (C22:1) which is better for use in combustion engines like diesel ones. There is some work being done in Australia for Biodiesel... not that we are involved in however it is still in development stages.

Wow!
Your site is great, and only three entries. Probally helps that I haven't seen any others to compare it too, but I think you've done a brilliant job. Especially nice to see the roof of your house in Prague! Have been craving a game of suffleboard, so can't wait to see you both and play it and I don't mind getting beaten by Steph. Looking forward to your next entry...

47.3% of statistics are made up!
Hi Ant and Steph, the travel blog is looking good! Getting back to the subject of power statistics, "70% of Germany's power is wind generated"... I heard that 47.3% of statistics are made up! See this site for details: http://factcheck.gullible.info/discussion/114/473-of-all-statistics-are-made-up-on-the-spot/
