Hello everyone,
Well after an exhausting 24 hours of travelling we're finally in Greece. We had to catch up on some much needed sleep (I don't think we slept for about 2 days) before we ventured out of our cave to see what Athens had on offer.
Obviously we wanted to go up to the Acropolis (our hostel is pretty much at the base of it) and see the Parthenon, so we did. We've also seen all the other ancient touristy stuff, including the Temple of Zeus and Ancient Agora. Along the way we stumbled across the markets where we stocked up on a kilo of strawberries for 1.80 before discovering the meat section. If you're a vegetarian I recommend to stay clear!! Most animals are skinned and hanging by their feet, that's if their feet aren't on the stand next to them! The smell is also not too good. It's actually the most disgusting but strangely fascinating scenarios I've ever seen.
We have gotten lost a couple of times, and nearly slipped on our butts from the marble paths everywhere but I love walking through the streets here! I could easily get use to the European
the view from the Acropolis
at the green patch of grass is the Temple of Zeus way of life, especially the shopping which is impossible to ignore. Oh the food is so good too. For the past two days we've been eating gyros or souvlaki's (they're only 1.60! don't get ripped off people!), and last night had a taste of Ouzo - Tezz had a bit more of a taste! "When in Greece do as the Greeks do" is his motto - this applies to every country.
I look forward to island hopping around to see what else Greece has to experience. Tonight we catch the midnight ferry to Mykanos. It arrives at 6am and saves paying for accomodation (a good tip).
Take care, Luv Neetz
PS. Alana you forgot to tell me two weird things about Athens...(1) there's cats and dogs everywhere here, and even tortoises which was very unexpected, and (2) here's the not so nice one... when you go the toilet you have to put your toilet paper in the bin instead of flushing it since the plumbing is so narrow, nice huh?

Sorry Neetz! I forgot about it, though i remember beign thoroughly disturbed at the time, especially when you stay in a hotel room for like 5 days and they forget to clean the bin... haha but its all fun! i actually have a photo of the ugliest cat in the world who i saw while in Greece, I think it was on one of the islands. Have fun and hi tezz!
