All aboard the night train
From Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu We caught the night train to Kota Bharu which took 14 hours in total, people would think the train would be very uncomfortable but I was surprised to find I slept throughout the journey -the beds were rather small considering my heaight but luckily we didn't have any people snoring within the carriage.
Once we arrived in Kota Bharu I was fresh to see the place... so that morning I took a wonder to Central Market which is housed in a mordern octagonal building, it looked wonderful all brightly coloured displaying local produce - fruit & spices.
From Central Market I then headed onto the Cultral Centre where me and Becky played 'local' games was very amusing - we firstly had a go at playing a musical instrument called Kectok which is mainly made out of cocnut shell - I was very good at this and I also had a shot a the 'mans' game called Gasing Pangkab a.k.a Striking Top - I was just getting the hang of it the it was time to leave - I'm sure I would have won if I just had 5mins longer!! Then we played another game called Cougkak which is a mable

Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu game played only by women - I lost against Becky 😞 not having much luck am I.
We left Kota Bharu by Taxi early the following day to catch the ferry from Kuala Besut to get across to Pulau Perhentian - I named this place Malaysian's Paradise Island as it was just pure paradise just what the doctor ordered after my burst of bed bugs scenario!!
We stayed on Kecil which is the small Island, Long Beach - this island catered more towards the backpackers with cheaper accomodation, more choice of food and of course 1 or 2 bars to choose from along the beach which was lovely to watch the sunset.
We met some really cool people when we arrived onto the island and got invited to a party - it was 3 peoples birthday celebration so needless to say it was a hugh gathering... it say it was a good bonding sessions with fellow travellers and the locals!
Whilst on the island I got 2 awesome dives in, Pinnacle and Sugar Wreck... both were great the sea was so warm the only downfall to the dives out in the Perhentian this time of year is the
Central Market
Looks can be desieving - this looks lovely but the smell the closer you get was disgusting jelly fish with their VERY long tenticles ... I was lucky enough to avoid them and not get stung but practicly everyone else on the dive got stung by the buggers!!
We spent 6 nights on the island before having to leave due to money running out - theres no atm's on the island so what ever you have has to last you for the duration... I would deffinately re-visited the perhentian Islands sometime in the future for a long and very relaxing holiday.
We returned back to Kota Bharu, I got the night bus across to Kuala Perlis which was also amusing as I was the only westerner on the bus... I felt like I was a famous person everyone staring but it was all harmless - one women spoke a little English and luckily she was going over to Pulau Langkawi so she helped me sort my ferry ticket out at the port - bless her.
I arrived onto Pulau Langkawi on the 19th April the girls went to Pulau Penang, I spent the day resting on the beach as I was knackered after the night bus journey - but I made a visit to the
night market to get some good local food and I can not believe how cheap it was to eat there - 1RM for noodles baring in mind there's 7rm to a pound!
That same Night I hired a moped for 24hrs so I could leave early in the morning to go tour Pulau Langkawi - what an awesome day I had.. me and my bike! deffinately doing my bike driving test when i get back to the Uk!!
I did a whole loop of the island, I left my motel at about 9am and returned around 7pm a full day trip touring - went up the Cable car which was just breath taking I've never been on one which goes sooo high up 652.5 meters above sea level to be exact. I climbed up 367steps to get to the top of Telaga Tujuh which is translated to Seven Wells waterfrallI then made my way onto Datai Bay but when I got there I found out it was an exclusive private golf resort - they weren't letting me in with my backpack and moped! just further south from these exclusive resorts was a public beach which was georgous - Malay
Kota Bharu
lady of leisure families altogether having a picnic on the beach - was really sweet.
Pulau Langkawi is a sweet Island once you remove yourself from the tourist area's offering duty free cigarettes and alcohol...
I met back up with the girls after my tour of the island and we all headed to the duty free shops got some alcohol and partied on down at a Reggea Bar last night - feeling the effects of the booze today - but was god fun getting out and letting our hair down - which we haven't done for quite a while now.
Tomorrow morning we're all heading to Thailand - we will do a border crossing at Satun then onto Trang. Lets see what Thailand has instore for us...
