Me and My NephewMe and My NephewMe and My Nephew

Me and My Nephew Ezra:)

I had mentioned in an earlier blog my Friend Paul and his wife Gina who are having a ball in Japan....well they have been keeping tabs on my blog and Gina provided the following snippet of info on the whole cash card debate:-

"Read in your blog about the post office card - don't do it!! there are loads out there and the one we've ended up with is from www.cashplus.co.uk it's a mastercard gold card and the charges are less than that on the post office card and if you have online bankng with your bank you can transfer money directly onto it from there. also have a look at www.splashplastic.co.uk that's only a meastro card so not sure if it would be any good but the charges on there are almost nothing!! whichever one you decide on they are a really good idea!"

Thanks Gina and thanks Paul....glad you are both ok:0), just goes to show that no matter how much research you do, the may be someone on the interwebs who knows a better way or even a friend or relative so you need to plug at the resources!

Just want to thank Michael Johnson and Erin who have left comments to my previous blogs and helped me to keep spurred on😊, copies of their comments below

"It'll be gone in a flash!
Hey, just checking the forums and it led me here! 😊 I'm travelling in three weeks, and like you, I decided to 'go for it' 12 months ago... The countdown commenced almost straight away and I've had a countdown timer on my blog since about 6 months ago! It rushes up so fast so get excited now! Good luck with the cash amassing... once you decide to start saving it's amazing what you end up with. I'm already 4k over my estimate! 😊 Michael Johnson"

"Awesome
Simply Awesome !! keep updating your blogs, to those of us who cant go on a RTW"

I have managed to save some cash recently and i will be putting it in my ISA in the next week or so and so i havent paid for my ticket as yet and that will need to come out of the funds.

I will have to live on basic food and not really go out much but then i can raise a reasonable chunk each month, but i don't care as the Grande Tour is going to be awesome and i need cash for it, so its go out loads now or salsa in Rio, scooners in Aussie and trekking in Tibet, im all for the latter option.

Cashcard
Hi, stumbled on your blog as we are also from Sale and we are halfway through a trip round the world - also booked through Trailfinders. On the cashcard front, get yourself a standard Nationwide account. They are the only bank in the UK that offer completely free withdrawals at any ATM in the world. It's worked so far in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Oz. The other good thing about it is that although it is a standard current account, the card is VISA so is accepted anywhere. You'll save a lot of money with it as it means you can withdraw money daily, as and when you need it. mPlus it's all done on t'internet so very easy to look after.

Cashcard
Hi Dave + Cathy, i have already tried the Nationwide account thing, however because of some error on my credit file (as my credit score was excellent and it was the file and not my score which was the issue) meant they turned me down for an account. They said i could reply in 6 months but that would be too close to me leaving the uk, plus it took them 5 weeks to tell me i wasnt getting an account and i dont know if i can be bothered with the hassle, i hear nationwide make up for the no charges with a lower coversion rate,so all in all it may work out not that baddly if i go the way im going, thanks for the advice and hope the trip is going well. Take care Mike
