Views leading to Glenorchy
With Mount Alfred in the middle - We climbed that! I arrived at new zealands adventure capital. The place was a very busy and crowded place i wasn't that impressed by the town but some of the activities it offerede and the surrounding senery surrounding it makes it a must see place. The following day after settling in we decided to go to Glenorchy - (my favourtie scenic town if you remember) where we did a day walk up Mount Alfred. We got some great views on driving in, of the Lake Wakatipu leading to the Glenorchy Mountain ranges. The walk up was a steep climb it was cool as we were the only ones doing it and the weather was absolutely perfect not a cloud in the sky!
After reach the end of the tree line we got some absolutely stunning views back down the Dart river towards Lake Wakatipu - WOW!
The views continued to get better and better as we continued to climb to the top. The route became really tricky as there was no path up we had to make our own path up. Sometimes we had to turn back as our route led to a vertical cliff face!
When we finally got to the top
it was amazing! I know I say this all the time at the moment but again another Best view ever together with Gertrude and McKinnon Pass! It was ace we got a great view of the lake back but then an absolutely stunning view of the valleys leading to Milford Road WOWOWOWOWOW! ACE!
Then the following day was probably my last extreme activity in NZ and also one of the most extreme out of everything Ive done. i took on The "NEVIS" - the highest Bungy jump in new zealand 134metre drop from a cable car placed in the middle of a huge gorge. I was getting butterfies days before but when seeing the venue for it, it made me even more nervous! Richies - "I think your bloody stupid! I wouldn't do it" comment didn't help in calming my nerves LOL! However I was also really really excited and looking forward to it also, its a strange contradiction in your head. The longer I waited until it was my turn the less and less scared i got. i kept telling myself "ive got to enjoy this!" Then without realising it the guy was counting me down and I
looked down - WOo Big drop but wasn't frightened I just went and I can honestly say I fully enjoyed it - it was such a rush! I would definately do it again and reccommend it to anyone! I had 8seconds of freefall which might not sound alot but is one hell of a long time falling! The nevis was 3 times bigger than the one I took on in Auckland (that seems ages ago now) in early November and yet it didnt seem that much longer. Definately a must to anyone going to new zealand!
