Went shopping in Lisbon. Got some pants that fit Zac. Doesnºt happen often . Actually, neither does being in Lisbon. And Sof got some cool clothes. That does happen often. Well, the getting clothes part. I did write something cool here but Sof deleted it. Dammit. Dammit all the way to cool clothes heaven.

Right, our holiday. Yes, clothes are cool in Lisbon. We had heaps of fun shopping and easily made a day of it. And the tile museum. THE TILE MUSEUM!!! WOW!!! HIghtlight of the trip for Sof.... so many tiles.....

Zacºs highlight of the trip came a few hours later when we discovered the famous Belem custard tarts. He hasnt been the same since. (who would have thought of putting cinnamon AND icing sugar on a custard tart simultaneously ?!?!?!?!)

Thursday we went to Evora, in particular to see the Chapel of Bones. We ended up having to stay a night because of train times, but it was well worth it - its a beautiful little town. The chapel of bones was haunting. We googled it- the saying above the door: Nós ossos que aqui estamos, pelos vossos esperamos: "Our bones that are here
A Lisbon SignA Lisbon SignA Lisbon Sign

Hold a childºs hand to protect you from falling anvils. ???
await yours!" was written by monks to remind people of their mortality. There are rumours to as to where the bones came from. There are at least 5000 skulls, and many more femurs and arm bones (help from the nurses???) and the odd pelvic bone to make up the rest of the walls, as well as 2 full corpses of an adult and a baby hanging on the wall. We have no photos. If you had been dead and displayed on a wall, would you really want heaps of tourists taking pictures of your remains??? (There were. We have more dignity.)

Today we arrived in Lagos. Thereºs nothing to do here. It is wonderful. We will spend the weekend lying on the beach, drinking amazing beer and wearing our lovely new hats that we purchased today (thanks for the tip celeste!).

Unfortunately, we wont be able to make it to Granada as planned. Easter is coming and southern spain is in apocalypse mode and getting accomodation is impossible or horribly expensive. We will instead hit Valencia and hopefully eat the best oranges we have ever consumed (we have already eaten the best apples and strawberries). Then onto Barcelona
What a strawberry! (almost as big as the ego)What a strawberry! (almost as big as the ego)What a strawberry! (almost as big as the ego)

And yes, it tasted as good as it looked (not the ego). and did we mention how good the apples are???? mmmmm.....
for some Manwell action.

Enjoy the pics.

Eat a Haighs bilby for us.

Zac and Sof.

Just like to point out that we can see the sea from where we are. The gulls are circling, the sun is warm. Beer is good. We have pringles. And camembert.

Potugal rocks!
Hey my lovelies! I have enjoyed reading your blogs so much, and it has bought back many memories; tiles, lagos, beer at the hostel rooftop (im sure that is the hostel i stayed at - Carlos House?? - how nice is Carlos!) Sintra, belem tarts mmmm, and the hats look great too....so cheap for a good hat too! Mine is still going strong! ooh, and i was once of those undignified tourists snapping at the dead bodies! Ha!! I even sent postcards of the dead back to Oz. Gosh i'm a sicko!! Love the photos and am a little jealous of how many you are able to post without going insane...any hints (ie a step-by-step process) on how to compress etc to aid a speedy photo posting?? Love you both so much, and am so glad that you are having the time of your lives MWA xxxxxx
