This is a "secret" restaurant that we found just up from the main road. Excellent food!
The weather continues to be very warm during the day and mild at night. We really are enjoying getting to know the area around here. This little village has a lot to offer if you are willing to explore the dusty roads. We discovered this little restaurant called Cafe Maria just up from the main road. The main room only has 2 tables but if you go outside, there are more on the patio of the home ! Great food at even greater prices. We also discovered an expreso bar up from the main road. Very nice building and atmosphere. Of course, getting there is all the fun! It continues to amaze us that people can even subsist here. What really gets me is that you will see a really nice building--like the TelMex, run by the government--set right amongst the poverty stricken homes. Also, the Pemex stations are all nice, situated in the most impoverished places. What does this government NOT get???

Anyway, we have met a lot of people who make their homes here and have never returned to the US. The attitude is that there are "no bad days" here in the Baja. From what I have

Very nice decor...bright colors
seen, I would have to agree!

We will be here for a few more days and then have to head back to the good old US of A! But while I have been here, I have learned how to make some awesome refried beans. I have basically been living on them and tortillas!!! But that is ok, b/c I love them! I also have perfected my own salsa. As some of my siblings say, I am turning Hispanic!!!

About DST, no one around here seems to know.....LOL...No big deal if you are late in Mexico anyway!

So that is about it from here.......here are a few more pics of the surrounding area here in los Barriles, my new paradise!

Knock on wood, but we have been very lucky and have had no gastrointestinal problems but we are not taking a lot of chances either. Some folks even fill their whole rig with the purified water...we are not that concerned!

The beach homes are gorgeous here but up the street from the main street this is pretty common, as in all Mexican resort towns or fishing villages
