I found a better sight for my travel blogging so this is the first entry I had. I'm just testing to see if you get the alert. Let me know, I'll be adding pictures tonight so check this afternoon.

Hey everyone,

I've decided to start a travel blog to let you know what I'm up to while I trapes around Europe all semester. I'm going to try to keep it updated but it is hard for me to get internet access sometimes. I'm going to try and eventually update pictures to go along with the places I will tell you about.

Today I started my first full week in the infant and pre-toddler room of the Dispensary Child Development Center. The room is an hourly room which means parents don't have to pay on a week by week basis they can just bring their children in for a few hours here and there and pay for the hours they are there. Alot of children end up going in and out of my room everyday so it is hard to remember their names but I'm getting the hang of it. Also I really like a few

of the people I'm working with. There is a girl about my age that works with me everyday so it helps make the days go by a little faster.

I've met two girls that are here doing the internship through camp adventure with me. Their names are Jules and Heather. We are planning to travel together. We sort of named ourselves the ducks because when we are out one duck always seems to stray out of the row at some point but we are usually pretty good at keeping all the ducks in a row. Other people are already starting to refer to the three of us as the ducks. I know we are sort of dorks. This last weekend we didn't do too much. We hung out in the barracks on Friday night at our post with some soldiers. Sunday we went to a town named Idar Oberstein. Most everything is closed on sundays but we just walked around the town. There is a church built about half way up a mountain with a castle at the top, which only consisted of the tower. There is newer castle about 100 yards away from the first that

was bigger. We hiked up the hill and looked around, and took lots of pictures. We are planning to make another trip there sometime so we can go into the church and new castle.

Next weekend we are planning a day trip to Trier which is supposedly the oldest town in Germany and has lots of Roman ruins.

WOW
Wish I was there. I am very envious of you. It is so nice to have friends to share your experiences with. Am going to be back in Des Moines at the end of May to celebrate my retirement. Don't know what I am going to do with my pathetic life yet. Any suggestions. Ask your friends what an old 63 year old and can't walk can do to have the time of my life. Am looking forward to seeing all of your pictures and dreaming my own dreams about travelling, Take care and have a safe trip home and with all your family when they come. Do your friends know what a crazy family that you have. To bad Joyce and I can't go to keep things lively. Love you lots.
